Hallo,
I have a problem with Tkinter and the module socket. In a console-window
everything works fine, but in a Tkinter-window I can no more use the
widgets. I found some other mails with this problem, but no solution (I
understand really :-)

Hi All,
I was checking out the demos for tk 8.4.4.0 and noticed that alot of
them (e.g. the scrollbar) have the XP style.
I also noticed that when I use Python 2.3 and a seperately installed
Tk 8.4.4.0 (not the default that comes with the python dist'n) my
Tkinter widgets don't have the XP style. They seem to have the
Windows 2000 style.

Our Tkinter application has a big ScrolledText widget which is
a log of everything that happens. In order to prevent people
from making changes, we have it in DISABLED mode except when
the program wants to write a new entry. This works OK, except
that sometimes we want to copy out of piece of the contents and
paste it in another window. When it's DISABLED, it appears
that we can't even select a portion of the text.

I've created a ghetto-ized ComboBox that should work nicely for Tkinter
(unfortunately no dropdown capabilities yet).
I've found why it's such a pain in the @ss to create one. You have to
re-create common methods and make sure they're mapped to the right
component (inside this widget are frame, entry, listbox, and scrollbar
widgets). I tried to look for ways I could inherit some methods from
other widgets but couldn't think of how to do...

Using Tkinter, I have a Canvas with vertical Scrollbar attached. At
runtime, I dynamically create Checkboxes on the Canvas, each one on a
different row. When I add a lot of Checkboxes, instead of the
scrollbar kicking in, the Canvas resizes and subsequently, my
Application window resizes such that it is larger than my monitor.
Can I prevent the Canvas from resizing when I am creating widgets on it
at runtime? I want to use the...

Hello:
Below I have included a stripped down version of the GUI I am working on.
It contains 2 dialog boxes - one main and one settings. It has the following
problems, probably all related, that I am hoping someone knows what I am
doing wrong:
1) Pressing the Settings.. Button multiple times, brings up many instances
of the Settings Panel. I just want it to bring up one. Is there an easy
way to do that?
