Ideally, one can use someone's C++ code by just looking at the header
files
(which should contain comments describing the functions in addition to
function definitions), without access to the full source code. Can
analogs of C++ header files be created for Python code?
Python "header" files could list only the 'def' statements and
docstrings of Python functions and classes, but that does not tell you
what the functions return. One could...

Whenever I run python I get
"Warning! you are running an untested version of Python."
prepended to the start of any output on stdout.
This is with Debian and python 2.3 (running the debian 2.1 and 2.2 binaries
doesn't have this effect)
Does anyone have any idea how to stop this or have even seen it before?

I've seen people here write that C++ doesn't support modules. What does
that mean? 'Module' is a very nebulous term in my book. It probably means
something quite different to me than what it does to people making that
comment about C++. Can someone explain what they mean when they say C++
doesn't support modules?

I need a fundamental explanation of Class Modules - something suitable
for newbies. Access 2.0 didn't seem to focus on them very much. Now
that I'm using Access 97, it seems they're everywhere. thx N advance.

Just thought I'd see if you guys had an answer for this. My website
analytics page shows that people come to my site after searching for
"Python drive name" but I don't think I'm offering any help with such
a thing.
However I would like to help since I'm getting a few people a day for
this. So does anyone have an idea on what they could be searching for
..... and of course what the answer would be?
Sorry it's such a vague question...

This month there was/is a 1000+ long thread called:
"merits of Lisp vs Python"
In comp.lang.lisp.
If you followed even parts of the thread, AND previously
used only one of the languages AND (and this is the
crucial bit), were persuaded to have a more positive view
of the other language; (deep breath, this is a long, as
well as grammatically incorrect sentence), THEN WHY NOT
POST ON WHAT ARGUMENTS PERSUADED YOU.

Hello,
IIRC, I once saw an explanation how Python doesn't have "variables" in
the sense that, say, C does, and instead has bindings from names to
objects. Does anyone have a link?
Thanks,
Ami

Hi,
Thanks for all the help from the previous problem. Turns out I didnt
have to use wxSizers, just change the size of my wxWidgets everytime a
EVT_SIZE is called.
Anyway, Im trying to find a python module (im not sure if it exists)
that takes two words and compares if they sound the same. So 'right' and
'write' sounds the same or 'u' and 'you' . Also I know this takes into
account the use of language and accent but is there any out there...

Could you provide a complete description of what you want to do?
Is it a single process, or two separate processes? Running on the same
machine or remotely? All python or there is another program involved?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
