I love the new 'folder' icon, but how can I access it as an icon? The
first link above seems to be just one big image with all four icons in
it. The other links only lead to the old zip file that doesn't include
the new icon.

Thanks.

As someone who learned C first, when I came to Python everytime I read about a new feature it was like, "Whoa! I can do that?!" Slicing, dir(), getattr/setattr, the % operator, all of this was very different from C. I'm curious -- what is everyone's favorite trick from a non-python language? And -- why isn't it in Python? Here's my current candidate: So the other day I was looking at the language Lua. In Lua, you make a

I'm looking at putting some e-mail contact addresses on a web site, and wanted to make it difficult for spammers to harvest them. I found some Python code that I can call within my application. http://www.zapyon.de/spam-me-not/ It works exactly as expected. However, I am concerned that the technique used for obsfucating the e-mail address may be a bit weak.

Hi there, I am embedding python 2.5 on embedded system running on RTOS where I had strict memory constraints. As python is a huge malloc intensive application, I observed huge memory fragmentation in my system which is leading to out of memory after running few scripts. So I decided to re-initialise the python with out restarting the whole python. I tried to use Py_Finalise() after completion of each script , then call Py_Initialise as...

Hi, first, python is one of my fav languages, and i'll definitely keep developing with it. But, there's 1 one thing what I -really- miss: data hiding. I know member vars are private when you prefix them with 2 underscores, but I hate prefixing my vars, I'd rather add a keyword before it. Python advertises himself as a full OOP language, but why does it miss one of the basic principles of OOP? Will it ever be added to python?

I am embedding Python in a MSVC++ (2005) application. The application creates some environment and then launches a Python script that will call some functions exported from the MSVC++ application. I want to be able to debug the Python script by using a debug server, like Winpdb (winpdb.org). I use ActivePython 2.5.2.2, Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, and Winpdb 1.3.8.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it.
