Decompyle can manage any version from 1.5 up to 2.3.3.
Is that "good"? What is "good" to you?

I needed a laugh: funny but why ?

I made a simple answer for a simple question. =)
Sometimes the way people ask things annoys me a lot, they seem to think
that we know what they're thinking... Why doesn't everybody read the
netiquette?

That's not the issue Felipe,
Although I somewhat understand your annoyment .... Putting onself on a
pedestal just because one knows better is not good for the teaching sake.
Now I am not saying you feel you're better/more educated/smarter ... I am
saying you have hopefully asked questions on this NG and found answers: was
it because your questions were perfect ?
I'm having a bad day ... let's blame it one that ... still: what I like
about
this NG is that one can ask a stupid question and still get a smart answer
(even when not funny).
Makes sense ?
Regards,
Philippe

I was disappointed when I started to play with decompyle for python 2.3
to observe that it failed on non-trivial list comprehensions.

I've had some success with decompyle, which seems to be principally
available as a Debian package, for which the sources can be obtained
here: http://packages.debian.org/stable/source/decompyle

Thanks, guys!
Sorry if my question confused anyone :/
I was hoping to find something better then decompyle, since I've had
limited success with it.. This thread has been closed and replies have been disabled. Please start a new discussion. Similar topics |

How can I make executables with python?
I found some utilities that claim they can do something like that like
Installer and py2exe but they actualy pack the code in a huge arhive!
This solves the problem of giving python programs to users who don't
have python but doesn't solve the problem of the source "secrecy"
(copyright).
And the programs also run much slower and become extremely big compared
to a normal C++ program for example. I...

Just a quick shoot... can I produce a "closed source"
program using "core" python, pygame (and eventually psyco),
packaging it by using py2exe and a custom installer ?
A clear yes/no answer is something I'll be asked about
when proposing python as an interesting alternative.
If the answer is "no" (as I fear) what's the minimum
of "opening" that must be done ?

Are there any commercial, or otherwise obfuscators for python source
code or byte code and what are their relative advantages or
disadvantages. I wonder because there are some byte code protection
available for java and .NET, although from what i've read these seem to
be not comprehensive as protection schemes

Hi everyone!
I was wondering, how many of you have used a Java Decompiler so far and what experiences did you make?
I've used the DJ Java Decompiler 3.9 (which uses JAD) a bit lately and found it very useful. However it costs 20$ and I wasn't planning to spend any money on it (especially as I'm not planning to send any money internationally).
I haven't tried JAD by it's self yet, can anyone share their experiences?
The same goes for...

suppose I wanted to make availble on the WWW a facility to do some rather
floating-point-calculation-intensive stuff.
I can do that in PHP, but then all work must be done on the hosters'
computer and PHP is SLOOOOOW.
Compiled stuff would be much faster, but no commercial hoster would allow
LAPACK stuff running on his machines.
In what way could java be of help ?
Are there hosters that allow my java stuff running on their machine and...

We have a client who's paranoid about distributing the Python source

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
