In some code we're writing we're making an assumption, and I'd like to
confirm that the assumption is valid.
Suppose a signal arrives while a file is being written, and the signal
handler explicitly raises a SystemExit exception.
My understanding is that the C-level I/O code will continue and the signal
won't be processed until the end of the atomic python interpreter
instruction that invoked that C code.

I have dilligently reviewed FAQ-lite Section 3.2, "How do I pass a
pointer-to-member-function to a signal handler, X event callback, system
call that starts a thread/task, etc." The only suggestion on how to deliver
a signal to an object is to do it via a global variable and a wrapper
function, a technique that is generally a Bad Idea (due to the usage of a
global variable). I understand that this ng is dedicated to the discussion
of...

Hi ! currently reading C docs, I think I'm reading docs about the stdc lib,
but I'm not shure.. it talks about signals, does *all* OS implement the
signal function, and use it well ? I mean.. I know Unixes do it, but what
about windows ? does it implements all SIG* signal promptly ?
Thanks !

Hi everyone,
I'd like to know when and how signals are used (e.g. SIGFPE, SIGABRT,
SIGTERM, SIGSEGV, SIGINT)? Thank you so much.

Hi
I use the following syntax to have events inherited from base to child classes which works nicely (virtual and override keyword on events). But I am wondering if it is a "supported" way of using events since I never saw it used anywhere in MSDN documentation/samples?! Or it will just break when I upgrade to .NET Framework 2.x in the coming years
namespace MyNamespac
public delegate void MyDel()
public class MyBase
public virtual...

Hi, first post here.
First off, this IS a homework assignment for an operating systems class, but the question isn't "how do i do the assignment" but "why is my particular implementation not working".
I've searched the forums here, but could not find anything particular to my problem, Googling and the linux manual pages haven't been much help either.
What the program is supposed to do is create a very simple shell (that sits atop the...

I'm developing a program that runs using an asyncore loop. Right now
I can adequately terminate it using Control-C, but as things get
refined I need a better way to stop it. I've developed another
program that executes it as a child process using popen2.Popen4(). I
was attempting to use signals to stop it (using os.kill()) but I keep
running into a problem where sending the signal causes an infinite
loop of printing the message...

defined?
eg:

Hi everyone,
After having used Python on Linux for some time, I now have to do
Python coding on Windows. I am big fan of the interactive Python shell
to test, eg, regexps.
Is there an interactive Python shell on Windows that supports:
- easy copy-pasting to/from an editor? (as opposed to the cumbersome
"mark", "copy" and then "paste" sequence that any terminal on Windows

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
