Hi, i'm replacing a perl script with a C program, so the perl script used to rsync very many files to some 60 servers, and rsync was excellent for this. however the script did do a lot of calculations which perl sucks at and was using too much memory/cpu. i took a look at rsync.h and it seemed way too complicated to use. or maybe i didn't look hard enough does anyone know how to use rsync in a c program without using a system call?

Hello, I would like to develop a new network protocol, where the server and the clients are Python programs. I think to be effective, I need to use TCP_NODELAY, and manually buffered transfers. I would like to create a general messaging object that has methods like sendinteger recvinteger

I'm trying to automate file copying of websites between servers with a web front end to allow our non-technical staff to make changes to sites live in a safe and ordered manner. I'm having difficulty using the System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo technique to start RSYNC If I try to start RSYNC directly it doesn't terminate and does not return control to the application.

Hi, everyone I want to build rsync server that can run in linux and windows, and configure by python. So I'm looking for something like rsync for python. I find rsync.py and pysync. But rsync.py looks like a client mode, it can't be a rsync server, is it? Can pysync be a rsync server? Thanks.... by nienfeng

Are there any python modules for accessing rsync from python? I would like to be able to rsync files from a python script to a remote server running an rsync daemon. I'm well aware that I can invoke rsync using subprocess, os.system, etc., but I am curious if there is a way to do it directly. -- Evan Klitzke <evan@yelp.com>

Hi I want to write a python script that runs rsync on a given directory and host. I build the command line string, but when I try to run subprocess.call(cmd), or p=subprocess.Popen(cmd, shell=True),or os.system(cmd), I get prompted for my login password. I expected this, but when I try to give my password, it's echoed back to the terminal and the special characters in the password is (I think) getting interpreted by the shell (zsh)

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
