Suppose you have the time and the money to start a new project in
Python. What would you like to do?
I can think of:
- A civilization like game in Python, with multiplayer support via
twisted.
- An easy to use tool for drawing diagrams, typically various kinds of
arrows and circles and boxes, that produces nice .eps and .svg files.

I'm using Visual Studio .NET 2003 (Visual Basic) and I can't seem to get my
Task List to update automatically when I enter comment token:
' TODO: This is some stuff to do
According to documentation this should automatically add to the Task List,
but it doesn't?? I've checked under my Tools, Options, Environment, Task
List and the TODO entry is there. But what I find odd is that at dialog I
can NOT "Add" and comment tokens? I know...

Pythoncard powered Backup program.
http://www.latedecember.com/sites/software/LDBackup/
This is a small simple project to encourage newbies to get involved in
Open Source, learn more Python(card) and to give me some experience in
running a project. It is also a handy tool which I have used for
months to backup my files :-)
Cross-platform support is high on the TODO list. Check out the
LDBackup page for more details. Windows installer...

Hi,
Apologies if this is against etiquette. I've just got my first python app up
and running. It is a podcast aggregator depending on feedparser. I've really
only learnt enough to get this up and running.
Any tips on the code quality and use of python would be appreciated. I've got
a feeling the overall structure is up the creek.

Had a thought that's grown on me. No idea if it's original or not- too
inexperienced in programming- but I guess there's no harm floating it
out there.
Python wins big on readability, and there's no doubt that context-
dependent text formatting in IDEs (keywords, strings, comments etc) is
a massive help too, therefore benefitting development and maintenance.
This idea is in a similar vein, especially for when scripts grow
large.

My proposal for writing a vector-based 2D animation software in C++ for undergraduate project work (Computer Science and Engineering) was rejected. I was told that it is simple to do. I consider it otherwise.
I would like to hear all your opinions on this.
Do you think it is a simple project?
In your place, would such a project be accepted by universities?
How difficult are your usual undergraduate projects?
Please give reasons and if...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
