Twisted an several CPUs

Hi,

Out of sheer curiosity:

Does Twisted scale if the server has several CPUs?

As far as I know twisted uses one interpreter. This
means a prefork server modul might be better to
server database driven web-apps.

Has anyone experience high load and twisted?

Thomas

I hit a problem yesterday with my mail connection. In a desparate attempt to understand what was going on, I wanted to log the connection traffic. After a bit of searching, I found a post on c.l.p from Andrew Bennetts explaining how to run a port forwarder in 2 lines using Twisted. $ mktap portforward -p 8000 -h remote -d 20 $ twistd -f portforward.tap This looked brilliant - all I needed to do was add logging. A quick

Sorry for posting this here but I got no reaction when asking in twisted-web mailing list: Twisted stores the Session objects using cookies. I'd like to know how long these Sessions last (it seems to be 30 minutes?) and - more importantly - I'd like my application to be able to set different Session timeouts for different users. I need some of the users (just some!) to be able not to click on anything on the site for several hours and...

Hi, previously i made an application that used sockets to do some network based processing. My next app is again going to be a client/server app and i wanted to see if i can't find an easier way to make the networking going. I bumped into xmlrpclib and also twisted (pb). I'm not sure which on of these would suit my needs better. I am planning to build a web GUI for the client so if i

Hi, I am new to Twisted. I use a Twisted 1.3.0 on MS Windows XP Home Edition, my python version is 2.3 I try the TCP echoserv.py and echoclient.py example. I have been trying to make a script that will download several rss feeds to my computer. The only problem I have is that I have to go through a proxy. First I tried using urllib (python 2.4, win32) but I found that the http_proxy and no_proxy code were not implemented for win32. I have made changes to urllib and urllib2 so that they use the proxy set in either the windows registry or in an environment variable. Question: How can I get...

I need to program and setup serveral webservices. If i were still using jsp, i would use Tomcat to make the several applications available on a given port. How can i accomplish this in Python? I was thinking about Twisted but it's not clear to me what parts i need to make a webserver listen on a certain port and having it serve different application based on the url that i received. Any advice on this?

I'm building an application that makes several user-specified internet connections; twisted meets my needs more or less perfectly. I'm running into a problem, however, in that twisted is not allowing connections (reactor.connectTCP) by hostname, only IP address. From what I can tell, the problem lies in that Twisted simply isn't performing the DNS resolutions. From the connection factory's startedConnecting method, print...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
