imaplib: setquota and proxyauth errors

Hello out there!

I am new to python and so far I like it a lot. Now I want to create
some IMAP mailboxes on my cyrus imapd, with quotas and each user should
be subscribed to her/his own spam folder. This is what I've attempted:
import imaplib, getpass
cyrus = imaplib.IMAP4()
cyrus.login("cy rus", getpass.getpass ()) Password:
('OK', ['User logged in']) cyrus.create("u ser/test0") ('OK', ['Completed']) cyrus.setquota( "user/test0", 123456) Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<stdin>", line 1, in ?
File "/usr/lib/python2.3/imaplib.py", line 633, in setquota
typ, dat = self._simple_co mmand('SETQUOTA ', root, limits)
File "/usr/lib/python2.3/imaplib.py", line 1000, in _simple_command
return self._command_c omplete(name, self._command(n ame, *args))
File "/usr/lib/python2.3/imaplib.py", line 837, in _command_comple te
raise self.error('%s command error: %s %s' % (name, typ, data))
imaplib.error: SETQUOTA command error: BAD ['Invalid quota list in
Setquota']

What am I doing wrong here? And here the subscribe thing: I tried the
proxyauth() method, 'cause I don't want cyrus to subscribe to test0's
spam box but test0 himself. Maybe I've completely misunderstood this
method, no?
cyrus.create("u ser/test0/spam") ('OK', ['Completed']) cyrus.proxyauth ("test0")

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<stdin>", line 1, in ?
File "/usr/lib/python2.3/imaplib.py", line 564, in proxyauth
return self._simple_co mmand('PROXYAUT H', user)
File "/usr/lib/python2.3/imaplib.py", line 1000, in _simple_command
return self._command_c omplete(name, self._command(n ame, *args))
File "/usr/lib/python2.3/imaplib.py", line 837, in _command_comple te
raise self.error('%s command error: %s %s' % (name, typ, data))
imaplib.error: PROXYAUTH command error: BAD ['Unrecognized command']

I am lost. I can't even tell, if these error come from cyrus or from python.

TIA,
Wollie

Anyone have an example they are willing to share that shows how to use the store command in imaplib? store( message_set, command, flag_list) Alters flag dispositions for messages in mailbox. I have been unable to find one or get the syntax correct through trial and error. I can send the command to the server in the following manor.

I'm working with imaplib. I'm trying to flag (or move or copy - anything that takes a message_set as an argument) a bunch of messages with one command and am having trouble. === def check_error(typ, data): if (typ != 'OK'): print typ print data

The Python 2.3 documentation in imaplib says: Internaldate2tuple( datestr) Converts an IMAP4 INTERNALDATE string to Coordinated Universal Time. Returns a time module tuple. Time2Internaldate( date_time) Converts a time module tuple to an IMAP4 "INTERNALDATE" representation. Returns a string in the form: "DD-Mmm-YYYY HH:MM:SS +HHMM" (including double-quotes). Yet running the following code produces inconsistent results (returning

I am using the fetch command from the imaplib to fetch messages. I get a result, but I am a bit uncertain as to how I should interpret it. The result is described at http://pydoc.org/2.3/imaplib.html as:: (typ, ) = <instance>.fetch(message_set, message_parts) In RFC 2060 it says: "The data items to be fetched can be either a single atom or a parenthesized list."

This little program gives IMO a strange result. import imaplib user = "cpapen" cyr = imaplib.IMAP4("imap.vub.ac.be") cyr.login("cyrus", "cOn-A1r") rc, lst = cyr.list('""', "user/%s/*" % user) for el in lst:

imaplib use exception to report errors, but some problems must be detected by checking the return value ! For example, when trying to append into a mailbox with wrong ACL, imaplib return 'NO', but dont raise any exception (I give a sample at the end). This make error handling more complicate, because any imap statement is supposed to be followed by a test of the returned value! Why not report all problems using exceptions ?

setacl and getacl look to be already "Cyrus" specific (according the doc), why not to extend imaplib a little bit more ? Here are some code I wrote and tested to support cyrus "expire" that manage how long a message can stay into a mailbox. This is usefull for NEWS server ! The code is preceded by lot of sample.

I'm trying to get a list of messages from GMAIL using it's new IMAP access. So far I've tried running this command but it just hangs. Any ideas? I figured that's the first line to run from this example: http://docs.python.org/lib/imap4-example.html Here are the configuration settings GMAIL says to use:

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
