Python Client & Loggin into Secure User Database

First, my problem doesn't make much practical sense so I hope you're up
for a challenge.

What I have (in concept) is a standalone web client that connects
different 'players' to a central host and distributes game files
between them. A user claims certain files, plays them, and then
automatically uploads them to the site where they are subsequently
distributed.

What I want to do is have a secure system that lets users log in upon
connecting so that the client has ftp privileges to upload. I'd like to
avoid xmlrpc and anything that would require the server to do more than
a simple php + sql script, preferably less. Basically, as simple as
possible without scripting the server in python too.

Whats the best way to accomplish this for a python client?
(registration will be browser based btw..)

-thanks in advance

Hi all I am writing a multi-user accounting/business system. Data is stored in a database (PostgreSQL on Linux, SQL Server on Windows). I have written a Python program to run on the client, which uses wxPython as a gui, and connects to the database via TCP/IP. The client program contains all the authentication and business logic. It has dawned on me that anyone can bypass this by modifying the program. As it is written in Python, with...

I have built a web service whose purpose is to copy files from a secure place to client machine and vice versa. The problem I am having is perhaps related to permissions and access rights. For testing purposes, the secure place is setup on the client machine. The client (window app) calls the web service (on a different machine) and connects successfully to the web service. However, when client calls a method that copies the file from...

Hi, I want to write a small system that is transaction based. I want to split the GUI front end data entry away from the file handling and record keeping. Now it seems almost trivially easy using the sockets module to communicate between machines on the same LAN, so that I want to do the record keeping on one machine.

I have a problem with an ASP.NET 2.0 Application. A client request is processed in parrallel by two threads. After further analysis, it appears that : - There is 2 disctinct session for the request (Session_Start in global.asax) - One of the session ends (Session_End in global.asax). - The ramining session is used for subsequent requests, and everything works fine. - This is happening primarily when the application is started for the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
