Hi list,
I am quite new to Python and try to learn Python with a small pygtk
program. I am facing a problem which I am unable to solve for myself.
I think I have read the documentation and some samples, but however
I cannot find my mistake, so hopefully someone can help me with a
short hint. This is a small sample application which demonstrates
my problem:

Hi.
Im currently working on a Python GTK2 app which uses a TreeView (data
contained in a ListStore). As I am utilizing the drag-to-reorder
feature of the TreeView I needed some way to keep track of the
current active item (not selected, think playlist in som sort of media
player). I then read a very good GTK 2 Tree View tutorial
(http://scentric.net/tutorial/), written for C. He speaks of the
GtkTreeRowReference object which seem to be...

Hi all,
I'm building a PyGTK interface in which I would like that no widget
would be able to get the focus (and so to be activated by pressing the
Return key). For this purpose, for each widget, I do:
widget.set_property("can-focus", gtk.FALSE)
My problem is a TreeView which has a clickable column, it get the
default focus and I did not find how to forbid that.

I tried to create a windows executable of a pygtk program. My first
attempt worked, kinda, except that no themes were applied and no
readable fonts were found by pango; so all letters where just empty
squares. But the program worked.
I looked up some docs, found the following recipe on the PyGTK Wiki
site:
http://starship.python.net/crew/theller/moin.cgi/Py2exeAndPyGTK
I followed those instructions to convert my setup.py file;...

Good morning.
I have recently begun a project using PyGTK, and part of my planned
interface has a gtk.TreeView showing a portion of the filesystem. Now,
rather than load the entire FS structure into the tree right from the
beginning, I made a lazy tree by adding blank children to rows
representing directories, and connected a call to fill in the data when
a row with blank children was expanded.
Now, this works all fine and well, in...

Hi,
I am just testing pygtk/glade out and wonder, if I am able
to change the keybindings. E.g. the treeview searches by
default for the entries beginning with the typed keystroke;
moving to the next row works as usual with the Down key. Now
I would like to change the key bindings to e.g. 'j' to move
to the next row (just like in vim) and to use a 'Ctrl' key
combination to search for a certain word beginning with the
typed key stroke.

Ey all,
I'm currently working on an application that uses the pygtk libraries to create windows and widgets. I have a HBOX (2 boxes) in the middle and in the left one I have a treeview, in the right the rest (drawingarea, entries, labels, notebooks, ...). But, as usual, the big hbox is divided exactly in the middle and I was wondering if it is possible to make sure that the left hbox doesn't use more then an amount of pixels. I tried looking...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
