Help,
i tried to generate a dynamic library from the official
Python-2.4.0.tgz on MacOSX 10.3 but when i do the
../configure --enable-shared ; make ; sudo make install
or
../configure --enable-shared=yes ; make ; sudo make install
It links statically. It's also strange that i can't find a
libpython2.4.a in my
/usr/local/lib. It's not installed by the install command.
Also /usr/local/bin/python24 works fine.
I get an error that TK/TCL was not found. Is this the reason, i
thought i can simply ignore this error message.

On Mac OS X the shared library functionality is obtained through
frameworks. It may detect this by default, but I'm not sure about
that. In any case read the install documentation, the correct options
are mentioned there, or you could just use the pre-built binary
install from python.org

Is not the reason, will go away once tcl/tk is installed (there is a
nice binary installer in the mac os x downloads section at apple.com

Umm, the framework gets embedded into the app bundle when you build it.
I think you do want frameworks.

I wanted to run a program that is written in PyQt on my mac, and went
over to Riverbank to get PyQ 3.13 and SIP 4.1.1 sources.
I followed the installation guide except for the compiling python as
Macosx already has python.
I had no problem with compiling SIP and also no problem with compiling
PyQt nor did I have any error message during make install.

I've been developing some Unix based shell tools.
They work fine on Linux and MacOSX.
I want to compile them on Win32. But I can't get hash_map to compile. I
tried downloading stl (and stlport) which is supposed to work in MSVC,
but it doesn't, it just generates tons of errors for stuff that used to

I also use macport to install unix programs from the command line and
I find it great too.
Well I would like to have all my modules in the path when I'm using
textmate AND when I use the commandline (ipython), but because
textmate and the command line use different python versions they also
search in different places..
