# Define an implementation of the Echo interface
class Echo_i (Example__POA.E cho):
def echoString(self , mesg):
print "echoString () called with message:", mesg
return mesg

# Initialise the ORB
orb = CORBA.ORB_init( sys.argv, CORBA.ORB_ID)

# Find the root POA
poa = orb.resolve_ini tial_references ("RootPOA")

# Create an instance of Echo_i
ei = Echo_i()

# Create an object reference, and implicitly activate the object
eo = ei._this()

# Activate the POA
poaManager = poa._get_the_PO AManager()
poaManager.acti vate()

# Call the object's echoString() operation

Hi, I heard that CORBA/TAO is not only overkilled for most of client/server appplication, it also has serious compatibility problem with its older version. CORBA/TAO tend to be a general purpose C++ library, but it ends up not useful for specific application. It seems that use other specific libraries like botan/cryptopp, regexx, sockets, xml libraries could build a much more reliable application and thus easier to maintain in the long...

Hi, I have installed Fnorb and everything seems to have gone ok. However I keep getting the error message below. This is despite the fact that the MS CL c++ preprocessor seems to be in PATH. I can type "cl" and although I get nothing back in the DOS window, there is also no error message. Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Python24\Lib\site-packages\Fnorb\script\cpp.py", line 53, in

Hi everybody, i have been developing web based applications using python+cheetah. The numbers are increasing. The applications have many common parts of code. Though these applications are separate from each other they are run in the same server. I heard about CORBA... but also heard that it has some flaws...like the programming being very complicated.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
