Hello, ... I am John McCormick (Systems Programmer ) and I am currently
working on a python program which will connect (user) specified inputs
and connect them to (user) selected outputs (like screen or
video/audio-recording devices) and would like to know if there's a
technique to "test" or "sense" if the desired output device is busy
without interrupting the output device while checking to see if it's
busy... ?? If, perhaps, python does not have this type of feature, I
wonder if you could give me some type of direction (ie., manufacturer's
device response checking techniques that could be used in conjunction
with python) but the bottom line is not to "crash" or interrupt the
desired output device (if it's still busy)...

Thank You

John McCormick

I have a problem and I don't quite know how to implement the solution. I'll have a server application that will listen on a tcp port and make many similtaneous connections to remote clients. From time to time, I'll need to write a small amount of data on one of those sockets. A notification to write to one of the sockets will come from...

I've got a client/server app that I used to send large amounts of data via UDP to the client. We use it in various scenarios, one of which includes rendering a media file on the client as it is transferred via the underlying UDP transport. In this scenario it is very important to keep CPU usage as low as possible. Both the client and...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
