python configuration problems

I am running Debian/Linux unstable. Trying to upgrade packages
depending on python (via aptitude) has started to give errors and
leaves all packeges unconfigured. When I run dpkg --configure pyhton2.3
the following errors occur.

Any advice on what to do?

I solved the problem myself. Just removed the folder where the errors
were occuring. Don't know how it came to exists in the first place
though. Now everything seems to work fine, for now...

the "srcb" package uses 2.4 features (generator expressions and
decorators).

whoever told you to add that package to your 2.3 install should
be slapped with a medium-sized fish.

Several people asked me for the following HOWTO, so I decided to post it here (though it is still very 'alpha' and might contain many (?) mistakes; didn't test what I wrote, but wrote it - more or less - during my own installation of Python 2.3 on Fedora Core 1 Linux for a friend of mine). Anyway, HTH, L.

Is there any emerging consensus on the "best" UI for toolkit. Tk never quite made it but from what I can see, both qt and wxWin are both doing fairly well in general. I'm already aware of the licensing issues surrounding qt (fwiw, I think their license fee for commercial use is eminently reasonable), so aside from that, I was wondering if there was any feedback readers could provide on the following: 1) Which plays best with Python?...

Hi all, I have been trying for some time to build Python 2.4.x from source on OS X 10.4.6. I've found *numerous* postings on various mailing lists and web pages documenting the apparently well-known problems of doing so. Various problems arise either in the ../configure step, with configure arguments that don't work, or in the compile, or in my case in the link step with libtool.

I've just started a job which has a massive python2.3.4-centric tools installation and configuration. I know what you're going to say, but I can't upgrade and be the only one with a newer version. There are close to 30 engineers using this same tools configuration, and it has been working fine for a long time. For now, we all have to live with the limitations and or bugs in 2.3.4. I'm running Windows XP, SP2, on a AMD 1.79Ghz MP 2200+.

How do you compare Python to Lisp? What specific advantages do you think that one has over the other? Note I'm not a Python person and I have no axes to grind here. This is just a question for my general education. Mark

Hi all, So I'm working on a C++ application that will eventually embed or extend Python using Boost.Python, but I first need to get Python compiled correctly for my platform. I've got a Windows Vista 64-bit machine with a Core 2 processor, and I'm compiling with a VC8. I downloaded the Python 2.5.1 source from python.org, and I opened the Visual Studio solution file that was in the PCbuild8 directory. I created a new x64 platform and...

Hi there, This is my first post over here and I hope someone can give me some guidance. I'm trying to embed Python into a Visual C++ 2008 application and I'm getting linker problems. I've compiled a DLL of the Python source code using the pythoncode VC++ project in the PCbuild folder of the source download and this works 100% without any warnings etc. I've done this in Debug and Release mode without any problems.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
