Hi,
First of all, I'm new in Python...
I have worked with manu langs and IDEs, like Delphi, VB, JBuilder, Eclipse,
Borland C++, Perl, etc...
Then, today I think IDEs like Delphi have a excelent environment to develop
apps with little time. I saw many people talking about Python like a easy
lang to learn and to develop. But I have look at IDEs for Python, or ways

I am meeting with a potential client next week to
discuss starting a new project. His preference is for
VB whereas I would prefer Python for obvious reasons ;-)
Could anybody come up with a short list of the pros and
cons of the two languages (I am not terribly familiar
with the strengths/weaknesses of VB). This will be a
general-purpose text-processing type application with no
GUI required.

Hello. I'm an experienced programmer who is evaluating learning Python if
it is applicable to a few projects. The programs I am going to list are
production software - they are not throwaway toy projects, but will
actually have real world application. I've spent years writing C++ and
Perl code, but I would like to try "this Python language" out in their
implementation, as I have the luxury of slack deadlines for the next
little while.

Hello All,
I am trying to convince my client to use Python in his new product. He
is worried about the license issues. Can somebody there to point me any
good commercial applications developed using python ?. The licence
clearly says Python can be used for commercial applications. Is there
any other implications like that of GPL to make the source open ?
Thanks for any help.

After quite a while of wxPython I'm getting back into PyQt, mainly due
to the announcement by Trolltech that they will make a GPL version of
Qt4 for Windows (and Phil-T said he will make a PyQt to go with it
eventually!)
I'm currently using PyQt 3.12 that comes with the BlackAdder demo, it
seems to work fine with Python 2.3.5 except that it doesn't support the
WinXP look'n'feel, the QStyle "WindowsXP" isn't included, and using a...

I've been using python to write a simple 'launcher' for one of our Java
applications for quite a while now. I recently updated it to use python
2.4, and all seemed well.
Today, one of my colleagues noted that on her machine the launcher would
complain it was missing a DLL - msvcr71.dll
However, there's a very grey area concerning the redistribution of said DLL.
If you've been keeping up with the dev list, and some other web

The following url points to an article written by Damian Conway
entitled "Ten Essential Development Practices":
http://www.perl.com/pub/a/2005/07/14/bestpractices.html
Althought the article has Perl as a focus, I thought that some of the
general points made might be of interest to the Python community. It
would certainly be interesting to put together an analogous version of
this article that centers on Python.
Best Regards,

I feel as if you are replying to a question _against_ python. No, this
is definitely not against python. It was just a matter of knowing how
Python commercial applications might be sold. Which would be the best
bet with regards to client ease of installation and running of a python
application.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
