Hello,
can anyone tell me how to find the list of computer names on a samba network, and
the list of shared folders / devices on a samba networked computer?
We have a GNU/Debian Server, and I am trying to do it first from a Win2000 machine (though ideally, the code should be platform-independent).

Hi All,
I'm currently using "os.listdir" to obtain the contents of some slow Windows
shares. I think I've seen another way of doing this using the win32 library
but I can't find the example anymore.
My main problem with using "os.listdir" is that it hangs my gui application.
The tread running the "os.listdir" appears to block all other threads when
it calls this function.

Does anyone know of a module for python which simulates a samba server
(windows fileshare). Instead of sharing a Phisical Device I'd like to
share a database based filesystem which is spread over various numbers
of drives and servers.
Any hints?

I've got a Samba share set up on a LINUX box. It's set up for
user-level access. A Windows user is mapped to a UNIX user. When
accessing through file explorer, a username/password box pops up, and
I type the UNIX user name mapped to my current windows user and the
SAMBA password.
My problem is that I now want to access a Samba share in C#, using the
ASPNET windows account. I have no idea how to do this. Basically, I
need to copy...

I am using Microsoft .NET (2.0) PrintPreviewDialog and
all works well when the Windows default printer is set
to a local printer or a network printer on a Windows
server, but if I set it to a Samba network printer, it
slows down to a crawl. With a Windows server
network printer, it takes about 10 seconds to render
100 pages. With a Samba network printer, it takes
over 5 minutes!
I can see that the preview control is generating

I have an ASP.NET 2.0 base site that needs to access files on Snap
Appliance's Guardian OS 4.2, which is running SAMBA 3.x which is a domain
member on the network.
How do I get our web-server, which is a DC, to retrieve files on the Snap
server?
Thanks,
Mike Ober.

So assuming that I manage to read enough of the documentation before I die of old age to work out how to configure a samba server to share files (and printers) on the network with Windows machines will those shares be available with just my computer on without me having logged in?
I am thinking of creating a directory /Home/Shared Files to hold the files I want to share. Is this reasonable. The reason for this location is that /Home is a...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
