My Tkinter app's gui file grew to the point that i wanted to split it
into several files: menus.py, mainFrame,py, buttons.py, etc. Of
course, when i moved the menu code into its own file, then did "import
menus" in the main gui file, it died because of references in the
menus file to stuff in the main gui file. What's the right way, or the
cleanest way, to split up my main gui file into its several conceptual
component files?

As you add more items, say text lines, in Text widget, it gets too
slow and almost impractical to use on. Take idle for example. If the
text gets bigger(e.g. print
urllib.urlopen('http://www.amazon.com').read() ), it becomes too
sluggish to use as an "interactive" shell.
I have tried wxPython and it seems to have the same problem (from my
experience using PyCrust).
Is there any way to speed up Text widget, or should I look for another

I need to create image files (eg bmp or jpeg) of xy scatter graphs
(i.e., graphs in which markers denote individual points; the markers

another implementing a scrolling ticker based on a Text widget with
embedded windows and a thread running the Tkinter mainloop plus
several other thread dealing with the scheduling of the contents and
the acquisition of data but not using graphic widgets.

Below I have included a stripped down version of the GUI I am working on.
It contains 2 dialog boxes - one main and one settings. It has the following
problems, probably all related, that I am hoping someone knows what I am
doing wrong:
1) Pressing the Settings.. Button multiple times, brings up many instances
of the Settings Panel. I just want it to bring up one. Is there an easy
way to do that?

I tried looking everywhere for a decent Tkinter GUI builder and the
closest I got to finding one before being horrified from looking at the
source was vtcl @ http://vtcl.sourceforge.net. The next closest thing
was page @ http://page.sourceforge.net/
Page just didn't cut it for me and I got several errors from it whereas
vtcl was almost a dream come true. it was not only perfect but I had a

Hi,
I'm in the process of writing some code and noticed a strange problem
while doing so. I'm working with PythonWin 210 built for Python 2.5. I
noticed the problem for the last py file processed by this script,
where the concerned tmp file is only actually written to when
PythonWin is closed. In other words, after I run this script, one of
the generated tmp files has a size of 0kB. I then close PythonWin and
it is then written to.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
