Normally I don't bother specifically announcing my articles. But it
seems like Twisted has become a common splinter thread on c.l.py (it is
perpetually both mystifying and enticing to us developers).
I wrote a series of articles introducing the Twisted framework for IBM
developerWorks (I've actually written 3, with one more planned). The
first of these appears today:

At the suggestion of one of my correspondents, I slightly reluctantly
implemented an RSS feed for my website/writing. It is perhaps a bit
crude so far, but maybe I'll spiff it up. The RSS also has an HTML
front to it.
If you want to see the latest news about my _Charming Python_ or _XML
Matters_ columns, or about other articles (later, perhaps stuff about
my book), take a look at:

Pythonistas,
My loyal fans :-) will remember that I did a Python IDE roundup for
_Charming Python_ a couple years back. Now I have another such roundup
lined up... not the very next article, but it's there on the list.
In the intervening years, I've hardly touched anything one might call an
IDE. I've looked at screenshots from time to time, and read various
announcements. But really I just use text editors and command lines.

This aticle presents factual evidence that Google's PageRank, inbound
links and keywords are irrelevent to your placement in the search
results.
It presents several case studies that show conclusively that the
algorithm used by Google's search engine is flawed with serious "bugs"
that deny many websites the high ranking that they should otherwise be
granted while granting it to those who shouldn't have it.
The article is entitled...

Hi,
I'm using ClickOnce for all of my installations and updates. However, when I modify any of the datasets in my application, when a user downloads the new update, all their data saved in their particular database is lost. After searching Google, I found a workaround to this. If I exclude the database file from the update, everything is fine, kind of. The problem is, if I exclude the database file from future updates, then if someone...

Everytime I reboot my computer I get a baloon pop up that says Automatic
Updates is turned off. When I try to manualy update Windows I get the
following message from Internet Explorer.
Automatic Updates (allows the site to find, download and install
high-priority updates for your computer)
Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) (helps updates download more
quickly and without problems if the download process is interrupted)...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
