Dear,
C++ is currently a dominant programming lanaguage to solve
Combinatorial Optimization problems. Will other languages be able to
compete with C++ in this field?
Could you suggest some C++ libraries for Combinatorial Optimization?
It is probably that a library will address a certain problem, e.g.
Max-Cut, TSP etc., that would already be fine.
Thanks and warm regards,

I came across this while looking for information on C++ and CORBA:
http://www.zeroc.com/ice.html. It got me to wondering why I need two
different languages in order to write distributed computing apps. In the
case of CORBA, that means IDL and C++. In the case of ICE, that means
slice and C++. Slice actually looks a lot closer to C++ than does IDL.
Nonetheless, I'm wondering if there is some fundamental limitation in C++
which precludes...

Hello all,
Is there a function in the standard C library which returns a prime
number which is also pseudo-random?
Assuming there isn't, as it appears from the docs that I have, is there
a better way than to fill an array of range 0... RAND_MAX with
pre-computed primes and using the output of rand() to index into it to
extract a random prime.

So, in between skiing runs I noticed
a Business Week cover story on
"cloud computing". The article had
lots of interesting information in it like
about how somebody's mom used to
be an airline stewardess and the
interior decor of various office spaces.
It was a truly excellent piece of
journalism.

Hello Bytes!
Maybe my question seems a bit silly (as one could simply answer it "Well, what are you more passionate about?" or stuff like that - please don't answer like this), but I am in a bit of a dilemma and time is short at the moment and I need to make a decision before it's too late.
I have just begun my second year in a UK uni for a BSc Hons Web Systems Development but I am not that happy about the course. Very diluted in my opinion....

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
