Python and Berkeley XML DB

I am trying to install and use Berkeley XML DB with Python. However, I
keep getting errors. The weblog at Sleepy Cat said to build Python with
the latest version of Berkeley DB. I can't get it to build with it. Does
anyone have any good directions on how to get Berkeley XML DB running
with Python? I have followed Sleepy Cat's installation instructions but
have been unable to get it to work thus far.

There seem to be some pointers here, or is that the same info you got:

What are our options for a standalone (that is one that's not client/server) easily accesible from Python? I'm not going to ask for special features as this is only to see what is avaiable and used (most used most probably meaning well maintained project). Thanks in advance Gedece

This is kinda off-topic for this group, but since I'm packaging Python perhaps not too far OT. I built a Solaris package for Python 2.3.3 then copied it to another system and installed it. Nothing too earth-shaking there. When I ran the regression test it barfed in test_bsddb because it couldn't find the Berkeley DB library. I went back to the first system and am now in the midst of updating from DB 4.0.14 to DB 4.2.52 and will then...

I'm looking into the possibility of getting my employer to use Python as an embedded scripting language. A big issue is licensing; we can't use anything that's GPL-like, because that would make us release our source code. Obviously, our lawyers will have the final say, but I'm looking for a rough idea, to see if this is even worth pursuing. I've read the copyright statement, and it sounds good to me, but I'm hardly an expert in this...

This is from the Slackware-current changelog: d/python-2.4.2-i486-1.tgz: Upgraded to python-2.4.2. The bsddb module didn't build against the new 4.4.x version of Berkeley DB. Does anyone care? Or perhaps have a patch? :-) Does anyone have a suggestion?

Hi. I have a Python program that parses a file and inserts records into a database with MySQLdb. I recently upgraded to MySQL 5.0.8, and now my parser runs *really* slow. Writing out to CSV files is fine, but when I try to insert the same records in a MySQL5 database, it slows to a crawl. Using MySQL 4.1 seems fine. The data seems to be inserted correctly, it's just really slow. Has anyone else noticed a similar problem using MySQL5...

Have a rather big problem with bsddb I can't figure out. I upgraded an Ubuntu machine from 7.05 to 7.10 which upgraded python to 2.5.1 I run a local website that uses bsddb, and suddenly I get a version mismatch error with bsddb and I can't access my database anymore I noticed in the 2.5.1 release notes: - fixed a bug with bsddb.DB.stat: the flags and txn keyword arguments were transposed.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
