Sounds like he probably gets this group as email through the
mailing list, but it's still rude to impose on the thousands
of other readers (tens of thousands?) for his own minor
convenience like that.

In this case, the best thing to do is to ask a real question that you're
not actually interested in and that will be easily answered, or start a
flamewar :-) The benefit of the latter is that you get *lots* of posts
to test your filter on...

Ah, you've caught on! comp.lang.pytho n is actually just one big
test group. There are no real questions. Most of the respondents
are actually bots, auto-generating their replies. You don't think
anyone would be crazy enough to actually spend their own time
answering useless questions that are just used to test filters,
do you?

Hello,
I don't program full-time (anymore), but I do try and stay on-top of
the latest technologies and like most are always trying to upgrade my
skills and remain current (as much as is possible).
Most of my programming these days involves using PHP for creating
script files for automating tasks and procedures (locally), and also
for anything that might be needed by our divisional Intranet (not a
huge site by any stretch of the...

Hi,
In an effort to improve my own code and try to teach others that I work with
that unit testing IS MANDATORY. I'm interested in examples of unit testing
that other people are using.
How many folks rely on NUNIT?
Do you create a testing class per application, per class, per assembly to
exercise your code?

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me with this problem. I'm not sure whether
the problem lies with the software or with my understanding of the
language.
I'm using the Microsoft.XMLDOM object in an ASP page to read an
incoming XML post request and respond to it. Although the XMLDOM
object verifies the XML at a basic level, I want to make sure that the
request is in the correct format (as per the specification I have to

I am taking a C++ class and would like to use a Linux based IDE vs C+
+ .Net but I am a little lost in how to go about this. I think that
the IDE and compilation tools are separate under Linux. I have tried
to take code written and tested under C++ .Net and tried compiling it
in Linux via gcc but I keep getting errors.
The code:
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;

I have been developing web applications with ASP & Javascript for a long
time. I have been using Visual Studio 2003.NET. While VS2003 is okay for
intellisense of ASP & Javascript, it's still not that great.
One of the cons of ASP & Javascript is that they're both interpreted, which
means one has twice the amount of work to do interms of syntax checking &
semantic/runtime checking.
Another bad thing is that ASP & Javascript doesn't have...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
