I'm cursed by being a linear thinker.
Anyway, I have an application (service) where I can't decide on the
appropriate way to implement threading.
I have a timer which periodically initiates Process A
Process A does something, then has to call N instances of Process B, where N
varies from instance to instance of Process A.
Process B then...

Hi,
I am trying to write some threading code to my application. The reason
I've been tempted to do this is because, I am doing some FTP uploads,
and sometimes during the put method, the application just hangs ("Not
Responding") instead of the regular timeout and return. I am using a
library to perform FTP stuff and so there may be a bug in...

Since System.Threading.Timer uses the threadpool to do its stuff what happens
when
(a) You try to create a timer and the thread pool is *exhausted*
(b) The timer is due to fire AND all threads in the threadpool are blocked
(deadlocked maybe)?
As a followup qn to this.. (please excuse my ignorance here) Is there one
threadpool per...

Hi
I am considering spawning a background thread to perform a long running
task in my asp.net application and I was hoping someone could shed some
light on several issues for which I have not been able to find solid
answers.
Will the spawned thread be terminated prematurely when the originating
request thread is returned to the thread...

The program works like this:
There is a form with a button.
When the form is loaded, a separate thread is started which is
retreiving/updating data in the database every x seconds.
When clicked on the button, data is retrieved from the database.
This looks to work fine. However, sometimes after clicking on the butten to
retrieve the data i...

Hello all,
I come to you to getting help for managing multi threading and database connection.
My project use Xml-Rpc to receive messages, so each call come from a different
thread.
Incoming calls are executing SQL on a MysqlConnection.
MysqlConnection does not like when concurents calls appends.
For a fast and dirty solution, I've put...

There isn't a thread pool module in the standard library, but I'm sure
many have been written by people in the python community.
Anyone have a favorite? Is there one particular implementation that's
recommended?
Not looking for anything fancy, just something that lets me queue up
tasks to be performed by a pool of threads and then retrieve...

As i dont know when it will end. i never abort the thread. what happens
is when user uses the page for 1 week, the page starts...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
