Best way to put out a small package for public scrutiny and use?

I've created a small (and I believe, very useful) package to ease the
creation and use of regular expressions. I'd like to make it available,
(though the first release will be aimed mostly at finalizing
functionality, not at being a polished project.) I don't want to use
SourceForge, as I don't use CVS, and I'm not yet ready (if ever)
to open up my home Subversion server to public access. If this
was just a single file, I'd simply post it in this newsgroup to
start with, but as it incorporates a couple of files, I need to post
the directory somehow. Any thoughts as to the best way to make
this package available?

Thanks,
Ken

Announce here and there (various vikis come to mind, also Parnassus
had such category at some time), make simple webpage explaining what
this code does and put the package there. They will find you.

You can release files on SourceForge without using CVS. We do it all
the time. You can just collect all the files into a .zip and then
upload it. The public can then download the zip file.

I will help you with SF usage if you need help.

I need to create image files (eg bmp or jpeg) of xy scatter graphs (i.e., graphs in which markers denote individual points; the markers need to be small polygons of various sizes, shapes, colors, shadings, etc. and there are thousands on them on each graph). http://www.JavascriptToolbox.com/bestpractices/ I started writing this up as a guide for some people who were looking for general tips on how to do things the 'right way' with Javascript. Their code was littered with document.all and eval, for example, and I wanted to create a practical list of best practices that they could easily put to use. The above URL is version 1.0 (draft) that resulted. IMO, it is not a replacement for the FAQ,...

Hello, I have an e-commerce package that currently offers an application that installs on the user's PC to allow them to manipulate the product database. I'm considering converting (ie rewriting from scratch) this into a set of password-protected ASP.NET pages. One thing that I can't work out is how to handle the product pricing. The package allows them to enter products that can have price variations, for example for small, medium...

I am using the "contract first" design methodology. Contract First is design the WSDL first then design the server and client. However I must design my XSD/XML Schema before anything. What happens if this complexType my web service consumes needs to be...

Hello, MSDN (amongst other places) is full of helpful advice on ways to do data access, but they all seem geared to wards enterprise applications. Maybe I'm in a minority, but I don't have those sorts of clients. Mine are all small businesses whose sites will never reach those sorts of scales. I deal with businesses whose sites get maybe a few hundred visitors per day (some not even that much) and get no more than ten orders per day....

Hi everyone, Thinking in Java, 4th edition, p 232: ... if you don't put an access specifier for class access, it defaults to package access. ... Is any one charting packing considered to be the "best"? We've used ChartFX but wasn't too happy about the way data had to be populated along with some other issues which slip my mind right now and Dundas has bugs and doesn't do a good enough job displaying axis labels and is very slow to paint large numbers of series and data points. We're currently evaluating ProEssentials which we are happy with but it's not a native .NET package. ...

I'm looking for a very basic high-precision arithmetic library. I need to be able to specify a fixed number of bits or decimal digits (32 decimal digits should be all I need). The only arithmetic functions I need are addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square-root, and comparison (i.e. less-than, greater-than, equal). Preferably this should be in C++ but I could use C by putting everything into a single class. I looked at a...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
