I have a HTML parser that reads product pages from various retailers - and I
want to optimize it somewhat:
I download all HTML before I start the parsing - and to do that I want to:
- Get rid of all HTML parts that I don't need, i.e. <head>, <title>,
<javascript> etc.
I'm considering using eregi_replace for this. Anyone have an example of how
to set this up ? I tried this with no luck:

On this page of my website: http://www.zen62775.zen.co.uk/rigs.html
the W3C html validator claims that there are some bytes it cannot interpret
in line 49 of the html source as UTF-8. If I force ISO-8859-1 encoding,
however, the page will validate correctly but displays a warning about the &
character on the same line, saying that & is the "first character of a
delimiter but occurred as data". Is there any way to remedy this
problem/issue?...

Many thanks for those who responded to my question of "putting greek char
into C string". In searching for an solution, I noticed that there are more
than one version of "Extended ASCII characters"(No. 128 to 255) . e.g., in
one version No. 224 is the symbol alpha, in another, it's a "a" with a ` on
it... How come?
You can see it here:

I'm trying to communicate with a USB device using C#. I'm able to determine
the device path using P/Invoke and SetupDiGetClassDevs,
SetupDiEnumDeviceInterfaces, and SetupDiGetDeviceInterfaceDetail, but I
can't open the device using File.Open. I get the following error:
An unhandled exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' occurred in
mscorlib.dll
Additional information: Illegal characters in path.

I have been having trouble the last few days opening any ASP.NET web
forms in the design view in the designer. Every time I clicked on an
aspx file I got a message box with the error "Unable to open in
designer. Illegal characters in path" and the file is instead opened
in HTML view. I don't know what application or situation may have
caused this error. I looked on the newsgroups and noticed that
numerous other people were having this...

I have a perl test program which has about 80 test cases, each of
which creates its own schema so I can remove them with DROP SCHEMA xxx
CASCADE. Normally each test case creates and drops the same schema,
but it can run a mode to preserve each schema and all the disk files
for each test. I recently changed my cleanup code to run psql with
all -c commands on one command line rather than a separate psql -c for
each one ...
psql -c 'DROP...

I only found one post on Google where someone mentions the same problem
with a DataSet:
XmlDataReader in .Net 1.1 can not read XML files from a path which
contains "%10" or "%3f".
code to reproduce:
string filename = "%10.xml"; //XML file with this name is existing
XmlReader reader = new XmlTextReader(filename);

Hi,
I have a OpenFileDialog on my windows form whose filter is *.*.
I want the users to be able to further filter the files by giving *.doc
or *.zip etc in the "file name" field of the dialog (Just like it
happens in the open file dialog of MS Word)
Currently, if the user enters a wild card character in the file name
field, it is throwing an exception with the message "Illegal characters
in path".
Please let me know how to achieve the...

Hi, I want to store python text strings that characters like "é" "Č"
in a mysql varchar text field. Now my problem is that mysql does not
seem to accept these characters. I'm wondering if there is any way I
can somehow "encode" these characters to appear as normal characters
and then "decode" them when I want to get them out of the database
again?
-Thanks.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
