browsing nuisance and a suggestion

Hi, I find myself plowing through much more collateral Pythonia trying to
keep up with my favorite topics appearing on the list, given the recent
explosion in activity. I'd like to suggest that the following boilerplate be
moved from before the topics to after the topics:

(begin quote)

Send Python-list mailing list submissions to
py*********@pyt hon.org

To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit
http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-list
or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to
py************* ****@python.org

You can reach the person managing the list at
py************* **@python.org

When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific
than "Re: Contents of Python-list digest..."

(end quote)

The (admittedly slight) nuisance I experience is having to scroll down to
see the last few topics because the boilerplate crowds them off the first
screenful. By moving the boilerplate after the topics, I can easily see in
one glance whether I want to further examine the items below or just delete
the email and go on to the next.

Need some opinions on how best to display in excess of 14K records based on users search criteria. Application Concept: ----------------------- User enters various search criteria (as many as 13 different fields) AND can select 2 fields to sort on. User can also limit the results displayed per page Once the user presses "Submit", the SQL string is built and the DB

I need a tool to browse text files with a size of 10-20 Mb. These files have a fixed record length of 800 bytes (CR/LF), and containt records used to create printed pages by an external company. Each line (record) contains an 2-character identifier, like 'A0' or 'C1'. The identifier identifies the record format for the line, thereby allowing different record formats to be used in a textfile. For example: An A0 record may consist of:

Hi, I have a VS2003 solution that includes CSharp (CS), managed C++ (MCPP) and unmanaged C++ (UMCPP) projects. It's unclear to me how integrated the source browsing is supposed to be for all these projects. If I'm in the editor and put the cursor on a CS classname and press F12 I jump to the source file for that CS class, which is what I would expect. But if I put the cursor on a MCPP classname

I'm trying to automate this for a mass-processing of GDC number information (scrapping). I've tried everything I can think of and every example I've come across to no avail. The root site is: http://www.dcor.state.ga.us/GDC/OffenderQuery/jsp/OffQryForm.jsp posting the following: http://www.dcor.state.ga.us/GDC/OffenderQuery/jsp/OffQryForm.jsp?Institution=vDisclaimer=True Yields the form I need to fill out to access individual GDC...

Can I use a bound ComboBox for both browsing and editing? I'm working on a small, standalone database application using Visual C#.NET 2003 and an Access data file. In order to keep the number of different screens down to a minimum, I'm trying to use the same Windows Forms for both browsing and for updating. This works fine for TextBoxes, but I'm running into problems with my DropDownLists (ComboBoxes).

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
