There are methods for accessing most every database system through
Python. You may want to head to google.com before asking next time.

Did you try a search for this?

http://www.google.ca/search?q=python+database

seems to return some fairly relevant documents...

Short answer: yes. :)

Have fun,
Mike

Yes, very nicely indeed. You can use mysqldb or one of the
object-relational mappers that support mysql, like sqlobject or middlekit.

This is kinda off-topic for this group, but since I'm packaging Python perhaps not too far OT. I built a Solaris package for Python 2.3.3 then copied it to another system and installed it. Nothing too earth-shaking there. When I ran the regression test it barfed in test_bsddb because it couldn't find the Berkeley DB library. I went back to the first system and am now in the midst of updating from DB 4.0.14 to DB 4.2.52 and will then...

Using COM and ADO on Win32, it is very easy to access databases (eg MySql, MS SQL Server, etc) from Python. Does anybody know if it is possible to access databases from Zope (which is written in Python) using COM and ADO? Carl

Hi all, i've been weighing the pros and cons of running multiple concurrent mysqld's on one server, to have better control over what databases are on what physical disks. System: 4 processor sun box running solaris with eighteen 36Gb drives. The situation is that i have a bunch of databases on one server that can all be classified as either external use or internal use. The internal use databases are consistently hit pretty hard, and...

Hi all, I made a question several days before to describe my strange trouble of mysqldump. But I still can't figour it out. Well, I just want to ask another question whether I could just backup my databases by copying the data folder to some place? Then if I meet some disaster, could I just copy the backup folder back to recover my databases? Thank you. Zh.y

Hi, I don't know anything about PHP and I'm initiating right now with PostgreSQL. Could someone tell me the pros and cons of assessing the PostgreSQL databases with Python vs. PHP? I will need to build a database that has to be assessed by a dozen clients via a web page in an intranet (possibly from outside, too).

Hi, I'm interested in using python to start writing a CAD program for electrical design. I just got done reading Steven Rubin's book, I've used "real" EDA tools, and I have an MSEE, so I know what I *want* at the end of this; I just have never taken on a programming task of this magnitude. I've seen that some are using python as a utility language for existing CAD environments, and I've also found some guy who's writing a 2d drafting...

Hi all, I hv started with python just recently... and have been assigned to make an utility which would be used for data validations... In short we take up various comma separated data files for eg: area.txt, school.txt, students.txt.... and so on (ok?!?) now, 1. area code used in the school.txt must be defined in the area.txt (Primary key in area => area_code defined in area.txt & Foreign key on school => area_code defined in...

Hello, I am using the Python DB API for access to MySQL. But it is not platform-independent - I need a module not included in Python by default - python-mysql, and it uses a compiled binary _mysql.so. So it is not platform-independent because for each web-server on different platform, I would have to download it and extra compile it specifically for that platform. Do you know of any Python solution for MySQL access that is 100%...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
