Ummm---this is a photo group. But then, you also posted to a
wordworking group.......I HAVE heard that SW development is big in
woodworking, but us dumb old photographers are going to have NO clue.

But then maybe you're a troll.....
digital photos, more and better computers,
and never enough time to do the projects.

Why does spam always crosspost to at least rec.woodworking in c.l.py?

Hi, folks, At the beginning of 2003, I was a frustrated computer user, and lapsed programmer, with problems to solve that screamed for programming. Thanks to the Python language and community, I am a programmer once again. My earlier solicitation to the computer world is here: http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=c09b237b.0302060136.5683054e%40posting.google.com

Hello list, I wonder if I could get some feedback from the list on a Python book I'm about to order from the net. The book is called "Python How to Program" by Deithel & Deithel. Issued on Prentice Hall 2002. I'm not an experienced Python programmer and I'm looking for a comprehensive but also an "understandable" book. I'm also open for suggestions. Best regards

Hello, I have been programming with Visual Basic and PHP in the last 5 years and some folks had recommended Python a free language.... I had looked for a Python book to start up but found many titles... so, my question finally is: what book could be for a Python beginner - but NOT a programming beginner - which intends to develop *windowed* Python programms and intends to develop for Windows and for Linux? for example, look at Thuban...

Hi all, During my degree, BEng (Hons) Electronics and Communications Engineering, we did C programming every year, but I never kept it up, as I had no interest and didn't see the point. But now I really want to get back into it as I see a point with GNU/Linux. I want to get my old skills back and write something or help on some projects etc. I need some good books. I used to have one called "A Book On C", but sold it,

Hello everyone. I am new to programming and my uncle gave me a copy of "C For Dummies 2nd Edition". I am up to chapter 9 right now. He probably saw me struggling with "The C Programming Language" by Ritchie and Kernigahn and felt bad. Does anyone have experience with this book? I feel that it is helping me along pretty well. But how much will this book teach me? What would be the next book to read?

I want to learn python. I plan to buy a book. I always find printed material more convenient than reading on-line tutorials. I don't know PERL or any other scripting language. I only know some BASH programming. I am looking for a book which will help me get started and should contain the foundations. I am not looking for the Python bible. Any recommendations? Ioannis

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
