Standard Lib To Use New-Style Classes?

A while back, I saw a thread asking if the standard lib modules would be
modified to use the new logging module, and it got me thinking. As the
new-style classes will be default for 2.4, will the standard lib modules
be modified accordingly?

Thanks

Who says newstyle classes will be the default in 2.4?

Patches in the direction of using newstyle classes more frequently are
probably encouraged, provided they demonstrate that they preserve
reasonable backwards compatibility.

John Bentley writes at this level: If we think about our savings accounts then division never comes in (as far as I can see). We deposit and withdraw exact amounts most of the time. Hello! Do you know when will be the new standard for c++ approved? And WHAT will be inside? Hope there will be some thread and synchro classes, text and XML parsing, new containers and other new things. God save me from coding in boring & slow & no pointers java!! p.s.: how much time usually needs the compiler vendors to implement new standards? p.s.2: anybody knows which compiler supports export keyword? Thanks to you all.

Hi, I wonder if anyone has some ideas on the best way to create this type of query. I have a table of four columns. The first column field is called "year" and contains years from 1980 to 2003. I have a standard set of years which I have to convert all of the year values in the table into. For example, the standard set is: 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995

Why the C standard committee doesn't provide a standard implementation including the C compiler and library when the language standard document is published? C works on the abstract model of low level machine. C stands for portability and platform and machine independent. If the C compiler and C standard library are written in C itself, is it possible that one "standard" C compiler plus library is enough? The standard implementation is...

If we look at a programming language such as C++: When an updated Standard comes out, everyone adopts it and abandons the previous one. It seems though that things aren't so clear-cut in the C community. It would seem that C99 is the most up-to-date Standard, but far more people seem to be working off the C89 Standard. Could someone please explain to me why this is so? --

Its been a while I have done pure C programming (I was coding in C++). Is the following function valid according to standard C? int main(int argc, char *argv) { int x; x = 9; printf("Value of x is: %d\n", x);

I wrote a simple Windows Application based application in C# called the CallWebServiceGui. This application is started from a different application called WsGuiStarter. The WsGuiStarter redirects the standard input from the CallWebServiceGui as a simple method for inter-process communication (IPC) between the two applications. For the reason of IPC the CallWebServiceGui creates a new thread, starts it and in it waits for input from standard...

I mainly keep my code as standard as possible, but I need to branch out just a tad. Firstly, if you're writing console programs for a system that has a screen, a keyboard, and a commandline, then is there any commonly used library for doing things like clearing the screen, or taking a single key press from the user? Secondly, is it OK, do you think, to flout C's rule of having to define all objects at the beginning of a block? I've...

Rather than create a new way of doing things: http://www.open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg21/docs/papers/2008/n2497.html why not just pick up ACE into the existing standard: http://www.cse.wustl.edu/~schmidt/ACE.html the same way that the STL (and subsequently BOOST) have been subsumed? Since it already runs on zillions of platforms, they have obviously worked most of the kinks out of the generalized threading and processes idea (along with many...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
