Has anyone succeeded in making a usable def file from python23.lib so
that which can be used to compile extensions with mingw32?
I have tried pexports (0.43 and 0.42h) and impdef which have both
failed stating that the file is the wrong type.
I have generated a manual .def file using nm and sed but then I still
get unresolved symbols (of the _imp__XXXXXX variety) when I try to
compile an extension.

Hi,
When compiling Sketch's streamfilter C extension the errors below are
raised during linking. What could cause the errors?
(Python 2.3, MinGw 1.1 with GCC 2.95.3-6, Windows 98)
Here are the occurrences of FilterType that may be relevant:
-------
C:\sketch\sketch-0.7.12\Filter\filterobj.c: 949: PyTypeObject

I tried to adapt the instructions for building the M2Crypto module
(http://sandbox.rulemaker.net/ngps/m2/INSTALL.html) to build a version
compatible with Python2.3, but I've had some mixed results. I actually got
everything to build and install, but when I try to import M2Crypto-- well,
here is a sample session:

Hello all.
After the effort of getting most of Python 2.3.4 Final compiled in
MinGW (see: http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-list/2004-June/225967.html,
and get the patch and read more about it here:
http://jove.prohosting.com/iwave/ipython/pyMinGW.html), allow me to
report that it is now also possible to compile and build most of
python24a3 in MinGW as well.

I am using distutils and mingw to create an extension from some C++
code for Python 2.4.1.
It builds fine, but on import the following error comes up:
python.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point _ctype could not be locatid in the dynamic
link library msvcr71.dll
I am not using ctype directly, but references to it apprear to be
linked in by mingw in the resulting pyd file.

Hi,
I'm having some problems with scripts using Python extension modules compiled
using mingw.
* Some of them work fine if I run them from a command prompt. However, if I
double click on them, or run them from within IDLE, they seem to hang.
* Other scripts always seem to hang, even if I start them from the command
prompt.

Dear list,
I have been using mingw to build a python extension module. I had to
jump through a number of hooks like the _ctype problem caused by the use
of msvcr71.dll, but the module was mostly usable.
Things become complicated when I use more and more boost libraries and
mingw can not work well with some of the modules. I am trying to switch
to VC but I was suggested that I need to use the identical version of VC
that is used to...

Hi,
I am trying to get a small group of volunteers together to create
Windows binaries for any Python extension developer that needs them,
much like the package/extension builders who volunteer their time to
create Linux RPMs.
The main thing I need are people willing to test the binaries to make
sure the extension is stable. This would require installing the binary
and probably downloading the source too to get the developer's test

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
