I recently found out about XPCom and it's python bindings and it sounded
very promising. Then I found out that the source of this information was
pretty old. I was wondering what the status is currently. I couldn't find
any documentation or binaries for the python interface.
has anyone examples, docs, binaries, urls, etc???? 1 1645

PyXPCOM is in the Mozilla source tree, under extensions/python/xpcom.
It is recommented that is you are using a fairly recent Mozilla version,
you should use the *trunk* version of pyxpcom, as it has a number of
fixes that aren't in the Moz final releases.

I've recently been trying out various different GUI frameworks in Python and
was wondering if I could get your input on the pros and cons of the
different ones...
wxPython: I love the programming side of wxPython, but I find it's just so
slow to initialise in the first place.
Tkinter: While it's fast to load up, the syntax has never really appealed to

Hi,
Does anybody know how far you can get nowadays with trying to use Python
as the script language for XUL instead of JS? Is it possible (even
theoretically) to write full-fledged applications on the Mozilla
platform with python only?
In a parallel vein, anybody know what the architecture of Komodo is?
Thanks for any pointers, information, etc

Hi all
Lately I've been trying to compile pyXPCOM on my windows machine. But
I've successfully compiled mozilla without pyXPCOM but when I adds the
pyXPCOM module the build fails with this message:
Error message:
d:/test\moz\mozilla\extensions\python\xpcom\src\VariantUtils.cpp(1151) :
error C2668: 'nsString::nsString' : ambiguous call to overloaded function

I'm curious about this because, quite aside their function as web
browsers, it is now possible to build some very useable interfaces
using browsers with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. (The biggest problem
is still the lack of a decent text widget.) However, JavaScript isn't
really a good language for building complex applications, and it
would be very cool if there were some way to use Python to replace
client-side JavaScript, in order to gain...

I'm waiting for PyXPCOM with bated breath, but always have a
hard time figuring out what is actually happening with it--the
ActiveState mailing list is mostly inactive, and web searches
Always turn up very old, out of date pages. If it weren't for the
fact that I know Mark Hammond is working, very, very hard on it,
I'd almost swear it was a dead project.
Is there a place to keep track of the status of this project?
I'm trying to write an...

Sorry for crossposting to several lists, but from what I can tell, what
I want to do may involve several different areas of expertise. (None of
which I have :-( )
I'd like to use Gecko as the UI for an application mostly implemented in
Python. Ideally, I'd like to somehow come up with a Python module that
wraps the Gecko, so that I can:
1) Create windows whose content is drawn by Gecko.
1) Dynamically manipulate what is shown by Gecko.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
