I've been working on optimizing some code (yes, it really needs it--it's
too slow ;) -- decided to use hotshot. I'm assuming things about the
output of hotshot.stats that I want to verify before I make decisions
off of them.
Here's an example of output I'm getting. I coded the same function 3
different ways--it's basically a type coercer. Each method results in
different stats (for the same request):
ncalls tottime percall cumtime ...

Hi,
has anybody thought of / already used graphviz to convert the output of
trace.py into a graph? I looked at PyUMLGraph, but 1. PyUMLGraph does
not successfully create a dot file, and 2. I don't really want a UML
representation but a compact representation of program execution.
Maybe there is some other tool that I am not aware of which can create
this kind of trace. I use eclipse with pydev plugin on MacOS 10.3.9

Hi
I am working on application that need to hold custom user information - Last
and first name, email, some other domain related information.
I used to create Base class for all my pages. The base class would have
CurrentUser property that would hold customer class in session and that was
fine for all my situations.
Now ASP.NET 2.0 came and we have Profile property for pages that could be
extended with configuration to have custom...

I need to create an instance of a custom object 'School.Teacher' and use it
in a Profile object.
I'm developing a bad case of "Pretzel Logic" thinking about this.
Filling the custom object 'School.Teacher' as an ArrayList creates the
proper information (see aspx code below), but I'm unable to use this
ArrayList in the Profile object. The aspx code below shows the attempt and
error message.

A month ago I posted:
"I built my application with Access 2003 and made a distribution using
the Microsoft Office Access 2003 Developer Extensions.
(I also install Jet 8 as a follow-on action at the end of the
installation.)
I can install the application on my development PC and on a "bare" PC.
Regardless of the PC where I install, in the installed application (but
not the development version)
File->Export from a Report brings up a...

As I attempted to use the built Profile feature to store some user
info.
<anonymousIdentification enabled="true" />
Whenever I set this flag, the db connection would fail, even though
debug output of the db connection string in Connections config still
looks fine.
<add name="ConnectStr" connectionString="Data Source=webserver;

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
