More ZEO/ZODB issues

drs
I don't seem to be getting any bites on the earlier post ...

so here is my problem in a nutshell. I started a ZEO server on one computer
(\\camus) using

C:\>python C:\Python22\Lib \site-packages\ZEO\st art.py -p 9000 C:\db\tmp.fs

that is fine

on another computer I typed the following from a python prompt:
from ZEO import ClientStorage
from ZODB import DB
addr = ('camus', 9000)
storage = ClientStorage.C lientStorage(ad dr)
db = DB(storage)
conn = db.open()
d = conn.root()
I went to a third computer and did the same.

from either of the clients, I can manipulate d by doing d[key] = value but the other client can't see the change. I have also tried using get_transaction ().begin()
d['0'] = 0
get_transaction ().commit()
and storage.sync()
but the other client still does not see changes. If, however, the other
client does get_transaction ().begin()
d[key] = value
get_transaction ().commit()

it will throw an error, but d will contain the changes from the first
client.

Obviously I am not getting something. The only ZEO examples I can find use
BTrees which is not what I want. So, can someone show me how to use a ZEO
server as a simple dictionary?

Thanks,

-doug

Hi - I'm trying to use ZODB but I'm having trouble getting started. Can anyone point me at a very simple example ? I've had a look at 'ZODB/ZEO Programming Guide' (http://zope.org/Wikis/ZODB/FrontPage/guide/node2.html) but although it's good stuff it's not clear to me how the pieces of example fit together to produce something that works. ...

I've started a few threads before on object persistence in medium to high end server apps. This one is about low end apps, for example, a simple cgi on a personal web site that might get a dozen hits a day. The idea is you just want to keep a few pieces of data around that the cgi can update. Immediately, typical strategies like using a...

Hello, sorry for bothering with same question again. However, month ago, I have tried to handle more zodb databases with zeo as described here: http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-list/2005-May/279915.html Since then, I don't have had a time to play with it and now I tried again. However, even after reading...

I was wondering how people would feel if the cmp function and the __cmp__ method would be a bit more generalised. The problem now is that the cmp protocol has no way to indicate two objects are incomparable, they are not equal but neither is one less or greater than the other. So I thought that either cmp could return None in this case...

I have a productional Linux web server with a Python/Zope/Plone. Now I'd like to install a non-Zope Python/ZODB application on the same server. What is the recommended way of doing that? Option 1: Install ZODB in the Python installation in the usual way. Should I expect problems when I install and run zope with that Python installation? ...

Hello all I am using Python 2.3 and ZODB (without the rest of Zope) with the following pattern: * One process which writes stuff to a ZODB instance (call it test.db) * Another process which reads stuff from the above ZODB instance test.db What I find is that when the first process writes, the second doesn't

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...
