Is re module thread-safe?

As the subject says, is re module thread-safe?

I have a couple of threads using re module. Is it thread-safe? or
should I use something like lock acquire/release?

I've compiled Python 2.3.3 on NetBSD and the thread (and therefore the threading) module is not available. Am I missing the module because of the way I made the binary? I could use the dummy_threading module, but then I'm sure I'd run into deadlocks. Thanks

I've written a Tkinter application (Windows) that uses the threading module, which I've reduced to the test case below (apologies if it's a bit long). Using the Queue module to pass messages the callable function in ClassDoRun can be started and interrupted via 'Start' and 'Abort' buttons. Having started then interrupted the function I...

Hi, i write an extension module in C at the moment. This module does some work on some own data types that consist of some values. The functions that can change the data are written in C. The question came up if this is by itself thread safe, if some two or more threads try to change these data types, are the C functions by themselves...

I'm upgrading a DLL from VB6 to VB.NET. The DLL gets called from an ASP.NET web application. In the VB6 code there is a module-level object which stores the context about what the user is doing during each page request. This object is initialised at the start of each request and populated with various data retrieved from the URL, and is...

All, I am trying to write a multi-threaded HTTP module that handles the OnBeginRequest and logs it. What I am trying to do is to offload the logging to another thread which will allow the http module to release the OnBeginRequest. The issue that I have is that I keep on getting "Request is not available in this context" exceptions.

I will be creating multiple VB.NET applications. I want all of the applications to have some specific global user-defined public constants and public variables (or objects). I currently have them in a module. It works and I can easily reuse that module in each of my applications. But then developers are able to change the module within a...

Hi, Is there an equivalent to the "Application.Doevents" method in modules or Windows services? I want to make a Windows service that calls a DLL. The DLL would have all my functions and it would be doing all the job, but some of the functions that I'm using require calling something like "Application.Doevents" and I can't use this...

Hi Python Experts, I hope I can explain this right. I'll try. Background: I have a module that I leave running in a server role. It has a module which has data in it that can change. So every nth time a function in the server gets called, I want to reload the module so it has the freshest data. But there's a lot of data so it takes...

I have a cython extension module "mux" where the initialization is being called more than once (the initmux c function). I am wondering if my use of multiple threads causes this. Can't multiple threads share the same python module ? The threads are being created from an external C library. I just call PyEval_InitThreads on startup, and...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
