PyCon DC 2003 had a broad range of presentations, from reports on
academic and commercial projects to tutorials and case studies, and we

presentations at PyCon DC 2004 is January 15, 2004.
We are interested in any and all submissions about uses of Python and
the development of the language. Since there is expected to be a
strong educational community presence for the next PyCon, teaching
materials of various kinds are also encouraged.

This is the *last* reminder that the deadline for sending proposals
for presentations at PyCon DC 2004 is January 15, 2004. That's
upcoming Thursday!
I'm also reminding everybody, speakers and non-speakers, of the
upcoming deadline for Early Bird Registration: January 31. Until
then, the registration fee is $175 (student rate $125); after that
date, the registration price goes up to $250 (student rate $150).

October has arrived and the deadline for submitting a proposal to give a talk
at PyCon 2007 is October 31 (November 15 for tutorials). While it is a PyCon
tradition to wait until the last minute to flood us with submissions, I would
like to encourage presenters to start a bit earlier this year.
We have a new talk (not tutorial) submissions system which lets you interact
with your proposal online, rather than a fire-and-forget...

Thanks to all the proposal authors so far, we have received lots of
proposals for PyCon talks & tutorials. But we'd like to have even
more. Alas, the proposal submission deadline should have been set
after a weekend, not before. So we have decided to extend the proposal
submission deadline to Monday, November 19 at midnight (Chicago
time). This gives you a *whole extra weekend* to write up your talk
and tutorial ideas!

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
