using variable-value

Hi

In php I can assign a value to a variable and use this varaible to access a
property in some object:

$var = 'property';
$object->{$var}

This will transelate to $object->property...
Is this possible in Python?

# Prints help on methods in Canvas-instance
for method in dir(self.canvas ):
print method
print help(self.canva s.method)

gives me " AttributeError: Canvas instance has no attribute 'method' "...

Not directly, but there's a way: getattr(obj, attname, [,default])
# Prints help on methods in Canvas-instance
for method in dir(self.canvas ):
print method
print help(self.canva s.method)

gives me " AttributeError: Canvas instance has no attribute 'method' "...

Try this
for method in dir(self.canvas ):
print method
print help(getattr(se lf.canvas, "method"))

Hi, I think thta for this I have to use reflection... but I'm not shure. How can I find/get an object at runtime by looking for its name that is stored in a variable. For example: I have a DataTable called dtPersons that loads all the data of the persons. I have a string variable called tableVariable that stores tha name "dtPersons".

Being an Old L.A.M.P guy, I beg you to please excuse my ignorance of dot.net (and all things Windows, for that matter). As part of an experiment (to learn enough ASP/VB.net to port a series of existing PHP scripts of mine to work on IIS), I have created the following simple function to compare a Website visitor's IP address against a varabe-array. The experiment invovleas a common scenario -- banning a Website visitor by IP Address: ...

Hi, I think my problem deals with class casting and inheritance. I want to deal with various Audio Formats, reading into memory for modification, working with it (done by different classes), and writing the result to disk afterwards. Therefore I have created some classes, e.g. WaveFileIO and AiffFileIO and MP3FileIO and AuFileIO for the In/Out operations.

Hello! I just wonder what is the point of having the reader variable declared as TextReader in the snippet below.. Is it because of using the polymorfism on the reader variable perhaps. using (TextReader reader = new StreamReader(fullPathname)) { string line; while ((line = reader.ReadLine()) != null)

Hi There, I know you can use eval to dynamically generate the name of a function you may want to call. Can it (or some equivalent method) also be used to do the same thing for the variables of a class e.g. class Foo(): bar = 1 gum = 2

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
