Problem in taking pg_basebackup of 1.7TB database while replicating in PostgreSQL 9.4 ( Master and slave both are of 9.4 )

1 New Member
Hi all. I am working with a database of 1.7 TB size which is in PostgreSQL 9.4. Kindly suggest how to take the pg_basebackup of such a huge data while replicating from master to slave. Regards, Amal Chakravarty.

Quick question I haven't found a straight answer to in MySQLs docs... In the case of 2 3.23.X series mysql databases in a master/slave replication setup (myiasm tables), if a FLUSH TABLES WITH READ LOCK is put on the slave, does the master effectively lock too because it is waiting for the binlog update(s) to be confirmed from the slave, or does the master merrily carry on not caring in the least that the slave tables are locked?

Dear community, for some reason the post I sent yesterday night still did not show up on the mailing lists. I have set up some links on the developers side under http://developer.postgresql.org/~wieck/slony1.html The concept will be the base for some of my work as a Software Engineer here at Afilias USA INC. in the near future. Afilias is like many of you in need of reliable and performant replication solutions for backup and failover...

I have the task of converting a SQL Server 2000 database to PostgreSQL. The data itself does not need to be converted, but the structure and stored procedures must be. I expect that converting tables and views will be simple. I expect that converting stored procedures and user-defined functions from T-SQL to PostgreSQL will be more complex. In any case, I am looking for recommendations and counsel regarding my expectations. I have...

I intend to set up a large database with PostgreSQL: about 1.3 TB, very basic queries (but 1500 per second at peak charge), and most probably only a single one index. The overall application, which is rather simple, should react in less than 3 seconds, 80% of the time. Meaning that if the database gives a mean response time of more than 0.5 second, I am fully dead... I plan to set up a distributed cluster N+1. Each node of the cluster stores...

Abstract MySQL is the world's most popular open-source database. As an important part of LAMP, a combination of open-source software (Linux + Apache + MySQL + Perl/PHP/Python), MySQL is widely used in various applications. Chinese Internet forum system Discuz! and blogging platform WordPress, which swept the Internet in the Web 2.0 era, are both built based on a MySQL-based underlying architecture. In the Web 3.0 era, leading Internet...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
