I can't seem to find any way to specify the character encoding with the DB
API implementation of PyPgSQL. There is no mention of encoding and Unicode
in the DB API v2.0 spec and the PyPgSQL README.
When I have Unicode strings in Python and store it in a PostgreSQL Unicode
database, will the data automatically be correctly encoded? Or do I need
to specify the UTF-8 client encoding on the database connection somehow?
I'm using the...

Hello
I have only one questions. I am testing PostgreSQL for windows.
All look well, but I can't set database encoding win1250. Its can be
problem, because win1250 is often used encoding on win32 platform in our
area. (PG7.5 don't support win1250 encoding on linux too).
Administrator@NEMESIS /usr/local/pgsql/lib
$ ../bin/createdb.exe -E win1250 aaa

Hi,
Here is the output a psql session. Please notice that the identation
inconsistences in the records containg non ASCII chars is as outputed by
psql.
The db was created with LANIN9 and the console was ran (in the same
machine) using UTF-8 (my system's default).
I was surprised to notice that setting the client to unicode (which is

Hi all
I'm having some trouble with UTF8 / ISO-8859-1 encoding using a Webservice
based on PEAR::SOAP_Server. The client essentially sends an XML file as data
(i.e. XML-data wrapped in SOAP-XML envelope) to the server where it is
processed.
I've made sure the client sends data in ISO-8859-1, the XML data also has
this encoding set in the PI. However, the server seems to receive the data
as UTF8. Therefore, my german "umlaute" get all...

Hi group,
I could use a bit of guidance on the following matter.
I am starting a new project now and must make some decisions regarding
encoding.
Environment: PHP4.3, Postgres7.4.3
I must be able to receive forminformation and store that in a database and
later produce it on screen on the client (just plain HTML).

I have a PostgreSQL database encode in UTF-8. I try to do a mail merge from OOwriter. This seems to work except for non western characters. E.g. when I access the database from pgAdmin, a GUI client I can see all UTF-8 encoded characters. When I cut a text from the GUI and paste this text in OOwriter everything works well. The same text through a mail merge only shows question marks. An example:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
