Hi All
Im generally a vb programmer and am used to referencing multiple records
returned from a query performed on an sql database and im trying to move
some functions of my software into sql stored procedures. So far ive been
able to move the functions relatively easily but im unsure about how to
output multiple values from an sql stored procedure. By this i mean for

Hello everybody,
I have a file with several asp functions where some depend on others.
Some of the functions I will need to transform a string value.
How can I include these functions in a stored procedure? (in Sql
Server 2000)
Do I have to add all the functions as userdefined functions?
Or is possible to reference the external file like include files in

Try hard to become familiar with T-SQL.
Can anybodey tell me the best way to deal with set's provided by a
stored procedure. Til yesterday I thougt trapping set in temp table
using INSERT EXEC is a way out of this, but then I struggeled with
nested INSERT EXEC's.
What are all the system proc's good for if the results cannot be
evaluated? The approach of modular programming is to have code doing
similar things in one place.

I am trying to develop a stored procedure for an existing application that
has data stored in numerous tables, each with the same set of columns. The
main columns are Time and Value. There are literally hundreds of these
tables that are storing values at one minute intervals. I need to calculate
the value at the end of the current hour for any table. I am a little new
to SQL Server, but I have some experience with other RDBMS.
I get an...

Hey guys,
I'm trying to get the column names from a table to which I'm connected
through OBDC. I don't want to use linked server. I get my data with
Openrowset.
I found the SQLDescribeCol and SQLColumns ODBC functions.
Can anybody tell me how to use those functions in a SQL Server stored
procedure?

I've been trying to copy tables from a linked server to a SQL Server
Express database. Express seems to have no direct/automatic way to do
it, so I've been looking into doing this by hand (i.e., with a T-SQL
procedure).
I've discovered some system stored procedures that seem relevant (like
sp_tables_ex and sp_columns_ex). But they're procedures, not
table-valued functions, so I'm not sure if I can actually do anything
with the data they...

In SQL 2005 (we use Enterprise 64-bit SP2), the users cannot see the
text of the stored procedures, functions, etc.
This is a production database, so I cannot give them rights to modify
them, but they need to be able to see what the procs are doing.
I didn't have this problem in 2000 - how can I adjust the privileges
to allow them to view the contents of the Programmability objects?
thanks for any insight!!

I have a database column that stores a comma delimited list of foreign
keys. Would someone show me how to do a join using the values from a
list stored within a record?
For example, a record in tbl_cds.genre_id might have a value of "2,
5, 6" corresponding to genre_ids 2 , 5 and 6. I want to join
tbl_cds.genre_id to tbl_genre.genre_id using the values in that data
field.
It seems I need a loop like this:

Hi All :
A couple of tables have been identified to be deleted. My job is to
find if it is at all used.
On searching the web, i found a proc to search for a string within all
databases in a server.
using system sproc : sp_msforeachdb
it searches for a string in
views, sprocs, functions, check constraints, defaults, foreign key,

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
