Too Many Client Connections -- Error -- Need Help

1 New Member
Dear All,

I am having the latest version of PostgreSQL i.e. 8.4.2 and in order to increase the number of client connection I have increased the parameters "max_connection s" and "shared_buffers " accordingly. However, I still get the same error "too many client connections". I know that there is some relation between the kernel parameters and these settings in postgresql.conf , however, i am unable to get the info on internet. My OS version is CentOS release 4.4 (Final).

I would request all the members of this community to contribute in any way possible.

Regards,
Shyam Sunder Rai

I am trying to convince a client that dotNet is preferable to an Access project (ADP/ADE). This client currently has a large, pure Access MDB solution with 30+ users, which needs to be upgraded. I believe a dotNet solution is better, but I'm trying to be as convincing as possible -- and maybe I'm wrong! I would appreciate any input or references which could help me.

On an AIX server, I used the db2install script from the command line to install the DB2 UDB 8.1 client. I applied the fix pak 7 to it. Now I need to use the client to test connections to another AIX server which has DB2 server and instances running. How do I proceed? Please help. Thanks, Yasaswi

Hi, it would be fantastic if anyone could suggest a solution to this problem. I've written an ASP.Net (VB) application which uses stored procedures in Oracle. All seems fine, except occasionally I get the error below: System.Data.OracleClient.OciHandle.op_Implicit(OciHandle x) +23 System.Data.OracleClient.TracedNativeMethods.OCIAttrGet(OciHandle trgthndlp, Int32& attributep, Int32& sizep, ATTR attrtype, OciHandle

My app has an asynchronous socket server. It will have 20 clients connected to the server. Each client sends data every 500 millisecondsThe Connections once established will not be closed unless there is a problem with the connection. I need to know which client has sent the incoming data as each client has its own buffer on my "server" app. I am using the standard asynch socket code from MSDN to listen for connections and they...

Hi group, I've written a client/server application, using the dotnet sockets. In my server, I have a thread waiting for messages with : ret = currSocket.Receive(buffer, 1024, SocketFlags.None); When the client exits, I close the socket with a specific message (like "end") and the thread terminate in a proper manner, but If my client crashes, the server is still waiting for receiving data, and

I am creating a small server client program that is meant for up to 70 connections from 70 different computers on a network. Everything in the program functions correctly except when testing operations with a server crash, the clients go into a disconnected state and wait for the server to come back up. Once the server is up the clients attept to connect. 75% of the time all clients connect and there connect message is accepted and...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
