If you don't see anything you can use try to run a Google search, something like "postgresql migration" should yield enough results to find some good third party tools.

Also if you can dump your tables into delimited flat files (like CSV files) you should be able to use the Postgresql COPY command to load the tables.

We currently send product releases to our customers, and often have to include scripts that need to be ran on the Oracle databases (also do it for SqlServer customers, but we use a different set of scripts for that). Some of the Sql scripts can be quite long, and so we break them out to their own script files and call them all from one main ..sql file, using sqlplus to execute it all. The admin would run the file like:

I am investigating the possibility of using pgsql as the database in an application. I have some unusual requirements that I'd like to ask you all about. I apologize in advance if my terminology is a little "off", I'm not familiar with pgsql (yet). I need to be able to move the database files, as normal user-visible files, between machines. I.e. given a database on machine A, I want to be able to copy either a single file (ideally) or a...

I am currently working on a Java web application in which we are making use of the JDBC driver for Postgres 7.4.1. Part of our application allows the administrators to manage a large number of small images, most of them not exceeding 5KB. There is about a gigabyte of these small files. We're currently storing the files on disk and the other information about the file in the database (historical reasons that I won't complain about here)....

Hi, I want to administer files with postgres. When I "import" a file to postgres I also submit certain atributes the file has. Such as filetype or specific properties I know about the file (not the standard stuff like the OS knows about the file as date, and size) I want that postgres then copies the file to a save place and write and read protects it. Once I query for certain attributes I submitted before

This thread was renamed. It used to be: "shared_buffers Question". The old thread kind of died out. I'm hoping to get some more direction by rephrasing the problem, along with some extra observations I've recently made. The core of the problem is that Postgres is filling up my hard drive with swap files at the rate of around 3 to 7 GB per week (that's Gigabytes not Megabytes) . At this rate it takes roughly two months to fill up my 40...

I am confused regarding the status of development for converting php scripts into compiled, distributable files. Can anyone provide a summary of the current situation? I have a set of about 200 php scripts that all work together to create a CMS-like system. I've worked a long time on those scripts, and they will, hopefully, someday make a living for my family, but I need to take measures that to protect the code. It seems to me that...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
