10 New Member
hi all
I do'nt have to much idea about postgreSQL.I just want to know.
Can we give the size for a particular table / database at the time of table / database creation by the command create table table_name / createdb database_name ? If yes how?. OR
Is there any command or way to give the size of a table and database ?

Thanks in advance

I'm using InnoDB with Mysql and I've used delete to delete over 10 million records, but the InnoDB database is still the same size on the disk (over 100 gigs) is there a way to get Mysql/InnoDB to shrink or trim this size? and also, can I set a maximum size and make it so itll rotate itself, as in purge out old entries as new ones come in when it hits the maximum? I'm not used to InnoDBs... so I could use some help with this...

Hello, I am starting to examine using SQLServer instead of Oracle. I went through the SQLServer import utility to copy tables from Oracle into SQLServer. I then checked the size of the database. I then started to specify indices for the tables. I did not see the database file size grow all that much. I kept on using the shrink command to make sure that wasted space was removed. I even made sure that minimal free space was allowed.

I have a database in which I have 2 tables. One table is Employees, other is Events. I have only one field in Employees and it is EmployeeName (text 50 chars). Events has fields AutoNumber, Start Date/Time, End Date/Time, EmployeeName. I have relationships EmployeeName from Employees 1 to many for Events. My question is: Does every record in Events table take space for EmployeeName or is it coded

I have two distinctively different pieces of equipment that I'm trying to build a database for, each having 20 inputs which makes my mysql table 40 fields wide. Form one is for 'shakers' and form two is for 'conveyors'. About the only thing they will have in common is that they both share 'motorsize' and they both share 'bearing' although shakers have two where conveyors have four. I'd first built a table within a database called...

I running MySQL locally and have the following dir setup C:\wamp\mysql\data\mike - This is where the tables for the database mike are stored C:\wamp\mysql\data - This is where I think the database data is stored. Basically the file in the data dir. (ibdata1) is 10,240kb in size. When I update a table in the mike database the file size of ibdata1 doesn't increase and I don't know why?

Hi, We're running DB2 v8.1 on a windows platform and have a database that is quite large. It basically contains one table with a BLOB field (each blob is a zip file, maybe 500K to 1MB), and this particular table is close to 300GB in size. We are not experiencing any problems, and there is plenty of space on the server, but I was just wondering if there is limit in DB2 to how big this table can get. We are guessing it is going to...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
