Hi all,
(DB2 V7.1 for WinNT)
I am looking for a way to determine the free space in my tablespace (containers), but I can't find out. The tablespace in question
is a system managed tablespace in a raw partition. The Control Center always reports 100% usage (although I can insert data...). The
"list tablespace containers for n show detail" command shows the number of usable pages, but they are almost equal to the total
number of pages.

just got out of a "class" on EXPLAIN, from a 390/v6 maven. was told
that ACCESSTYPE = 'R' in the plan_table meant a TableSpace scan.
hmmmm. next step up (or down, depending on your outlook) wasn't a
Table Scan.
thought this might be a MainFrame thing; but a look at DB2Info on my
UDB 7.2 server showed the same thing.
this is truly puzzling. is there an explanation of EXPLAIN which
describes how to get a Table Scan???? or are we...

How are the following two commands different as far as the 'end
result' of the restores is concerned:
1. db2 RESTORE DB mydb
2. db2 RESTORE DB mydb TABLESPACE
In other words, in the above case, what is the difference between
'database restore (performed in point 1 above) Vs the 'tablespace
restore' (performed in point 2 above).

We use redirected restore to refresh test from prod on different AIX 5.2
servers. The databases have the same number, size and names of cooked
containers. The only difference is the fully qualified path contains a
different "SID": eg. "/db2/PRD/data1/..." versus "/db2/TST/data1/...".
(Please note as an SAP installation I cannot change this layout).
We use "set tablespace container" statements to redefine the fully
qualified container...

How can we do an online restore of a tablespace using the incremental
backup's? we are on a partitioned database...
Also, how could we use backup copy made by the load (using the copy to
option in load) to revover the tablespace?
Thanks,
Raj

DB2 V8.2 FP10 on Windows
I tested the following HADR scenario:
- a new tablespace on a new filesytem is created on the primary System
- the replay on standby fails because of lacking permissions
- the tablespace is backed up on the primary system
- tables are created in the new tablespace and data is inserted (and a
couple of logs are archived)
- Takeover is done by the standby

Hello all,
I have a database around 600GB and all tables were self-created by the
application. Hence, we have only one huge SMS tablespace where all the
tables are stored. To get better performance, we are planning to move
the tables to a DMS tablespace with multiple containers. There are LOTS
of tables and some tables have almost 40GB of data. Can you please
suggest and efficient way of doing this.
Also, I know that even a 32KB page...

Hi all,
I am now doing development using DB2.
Q1.
There is one tablespace to store 5 tables.
But, when in production, there will be one tablespace for EACH of the
tables.

Hi all,
DB2 LUW v8 FP15
Is there any performance overhead if a table is created on data and
index tablespaces with different page sizes ?
What kind of penalty is expected ?

I have an OLTP database that has a tablespace that will start out at about 1
TB, but may grow to 75 TB's in size over the next 5 years. When I add new
containers (on a new mount point), I want to use the BEGIN NEW STRIPE SET
command to avoid rebalancing.
Anyone know the maximum number of STRIPE SET's that can be created for a
tablespace.

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
