I need to read (unformatted text) from stdin up to EOF into a char
buffer; of course I cannot allocate my buffer until I know how much
text is available, and I do not know how much text is available until I
have read it... which seems to imply that multiple reads of the input
stream will be inevitable.

What's the big deal with importing text files? I have a 70 MB file to import
and it's been one problem after another. I used the copy command and it appears
that it's just not possible. I finally massaged the file into a .sql file and
ran that using \i db.sql but that failed too because I overlooked ' in names

Hello:
I would like to know whether there is any different in installing Postgresql
on the Linux system with file system of EXT2 or EXT3. I have two machines
with idential OS (Red Hat 7.3 install with postgresql 7.3.4) but with
different file system, 1 is EXT2 and the other is EXT3. When I insert 10,000
records to the two machines, I found that the machine with EXT2 insert much
quicker than the other with EXT3.

Hello--
I wrote an application in Visual Foxpro 8 that reads data from another app's database (Advantage). Recently, tho, that app has changed its backend to PostgreSQL, so I need to update my VFP app to read from PostgreSQL.
I've installed the psqlODBC (8.2.4) driver and can connect and read from the database. The trouble I'm having is that every text field is coming across as a memo, which is screwing up my ORDER BYs, etc..

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
