Wonder if anyone can help.

Can one seriously see persistent connections as a form of db
connection pooling? Is it really similar?

I get this error mysql_pconnect Too many connections ... every now and
then.
Does anyone knows where it comes from ?
There are a lot of sites running on the server and all of them use the
Database frequently.
Is there any configuration that I will have to do to my server in order to
handle the load ?

Dear peoples,
Periodically we are getting runaway postgres processes on our Linux (2.4.21-0.13 on Dell servers), using 7.4 and GIS (0.8 USE_GEOS=1 USE_PROJ=1 USE_STATS=1).
All of the queries come in from remote servers using JDBC/proxool; once every 4 hours we have a process on the client side that cleans out old connections.
All the processes are doing is single queries -- no inserts or updates.

Hi Folks
I am just trying to get my head around whether I can use a single
SQLConnection for the life of the application or whether I should create it
only when needed.
I want to create cached SQLCommand objects that are then prepared to reduce
subsequent execution time, but these can't be prepared unless their
Connection property has been set.

When I'm using FastCGI do I need to code differently than I do when
using regular CGI? Because the PHP.exe processes don't go away do
global variables stick around from page request to page request,
creating the need for better managment / pooling of DB connections?

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
