FYRACLE better then PostgreSQL ?

Hi Guys!

Someone already read this the documentation below?
http://www.janus-software.com/fyracle.pdf

They are saying that PostgreSQL is so robust as Firebird according to
triggers ( I think that they are talking about their "universal
triggers"), SQL functionality and transactions.

wow! Someone have something to say about this?

Cheers,

Rodrigo Miranda Carvalhaes

There is a new development: Fyracle. Fyracle is an enterprise quality RDBMS that accepts Oracle style SQL and implements a large subset of PL/SQL. It is based on the well known Firebird database. You can find it at: http://www.fyracle.org Or read about it at:

Hello MySQL has information about several storage engines. MEMORY to handle temporary tables, InnoDB to handle transactions and which also can split its table data over several files/partitions. Splitting of storage is something which according to the following article, PostgreSQL does not support: http://www.devx.com/dbzone/Article/20743

We currently are running a data intensive web service on a Mac using 4D. The developers of our site are looking at converting this web service to PostgreSQL. We will have a backup of our three production servers at our location. The developers are recommending that I purchase a 2GHz Dual Processor G5 with between 2GB and 4 GB RAM. They say that this configuration would be able to easily run a copy of all three production servers. My...

He wants to be in the big 8. He would like to be under the comp.databases.* domain and will not to move it to something like postgresql.*. So he seems to agree with what was my original intention, which was to make the current groups proper members of the big 8. I also offered to let him take over the process as he understands gatewaying and the details better than I. I also offered to let him create the next RFD, and hopefully he...

Obviously, there cannot be 21 postgresql groups in the comp.* hierarchy. Many of the 21 are not used that often, and would not be of much popularity to those on usenet. I did a check on news.postgresql.org to see which newsgroups are the most popular and also the ones which cover the relevant postgresql topics. Most of the postgresql topics and traffic are represented in these four newsgroups: comp.databases.postgresql.admin

Hi All! I am wanting to setup/run PostgreSQL on my server (a SuSE Linux 9.2 distro) but I'm not quite sure which way to go. I have a few books on PostgreSQL but they don't seem to match the way SuSE has installed it. The books explain how to install/make/etc. and then how to setup a "cluster". The directory structure differs alot from the SuSE install.

I have an application I built in Access 2003. It is an electronic medical records program split into front end (8 computers) and back end. This runs flawlessly. Purchased a billing program that uses Postgresql. This resides on the same computer as our Access backend. We keep getting knocked out of the new billing program and never get knocked out of my Access program. The billing software provider says that Access and Postgresql running...

I use poker software (HoldemManager) to keep track of the statistics (and show nice graphs) of millions of poker hand histories. This software (also PokerTracker 3) imports all the poker hands in PostgreSQL. The software runs on Windows) only. All of its users have NORMAL PCs. From single-core laptops, to a quadcore desktop at best. Questions: -1 I can see two databases in my pgAdmin: postgres and HoldemManager. All the poker data...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
