Speaking of exploits in browsers, I'd recommend
Mozilla/Firefox users upgrade to the latest releases
as well if they haven't already. There were a number
of potentially serious bugs that could result in
arbitrary code execution that are fixed by the latest
releases.

I'm trying to write some classes for my collaborative whiteboard to transmit images over the network, using the javax.imageio API, but I'm running into an odd problem: my code words fine with PNGs, but not with JPEGs. As you can see below, I've attached a progress listener to the reader, which reports progress up to just under 95%, then nothing. The warning listener reports no warnings. The images are written by an ImageWriter in another...

OleDbCommand class like many .NET classes has the following description in its help file: "Thread Safety Any public static (Shared in Visual Basic) members of this type are safe for multithreaded operations. Any instance members are not guaranteed to be thread safe." I have 2 questions: 1. I thought dynamic variables are thread-safe since threads have their own

I have a file I need to delete or truncate. I tried using the KILL command in VB6. I tried using the file.delete command in VB.net. I tried manually deleting, renaming, and copying over the file... but nothing works. I keep getting the error: Cannot delete access_log: it is being used by another person or program. I tried shutting down services, I tried killing processes using the task manager, I tried rebooting, and still, I get...

I need to create a web app that will display all the images in that folder (there are gifs, tiffs, jpegs and bmps) in thumbnail format and then when the user clicks, he/she can download that image. I found some sample code that will display one type of image (jpgs) but I cannot figure out how to display all different formats. IS there any sample code out there? any help will be...

I'm trying to write extremely efficient, fully portable algorithms to determine if an integer is odd or even. The most basic algorithms would be: #define IS_ODD(x) ((x) % 2) #define IS_EVEN(x) (!((x) % 2)) Attempting to make them slightly more efficient, we could change them to: #define IS_ODD(x) ((x) & 1)

Hello. It seems a year is all it takes for one's proficiency in C++ to become too rusty. Professionally, I've been away from the language (and from programming in general), but I still preserve an appreciation for it. So I decided to toy with some idea, just for fun and for evaluating how rusty I'd become. "Let me write a simple functor for sorting the elements of a collection! I will start with a simple collection of integers.", I...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
