Canceling Query due to user request

postgres 7.4.2 on a RedHat Enterprise Server
using libpq on SCO Open Server

Seems that if a command takes too long I get ERROR:Canceling query due
to user request.

I have ulimit=unlimite d
postgresql.conf has statement_timeo ut = 0

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Hi, I try to write an asp query form that lets client search any text-string and display all pages in my web server that contain the text. I have IIS 6.0 on a server 2003. The MSDN site says there is a sample file called Ixtrasp.asp, but I could not find it in my system although I installed indexing service. I followed the steps in MSDN site to create a basic .asp query form (too long to post it here), but it always displays: No...

How do I get the report to not spend time pulling up the data when I'm going to bail out of the report anyway? Below is the code in my report. I first show the user a form where they can select some filtering parameters which I put in Getz's TaggedValues class. But they can hit a Cancel button if they decide they don't want any report. When I test the Cancel button I'd like the report to close immediately but it seems to spend some...

Hello. I am trying to port an old java application from MS SQL Server to PostgreSQL running on Mac OS X. I have access to the java source code and can make modifications. I have tried with PostgreSQL version 7.4.2 and 8.0.0beta2, but get the same error. I am using pgdev.305.jdbc3.jar for 8.0.0beta2. The PostgreSQL installation are standard, except for log_statement = 'all' to debug this problem. The problem is that the server returns...

Hi all, I've been working on a listing problem and I can't figure out how to work it out. I have looked far and wide on the web to find answers, but I'd like other peoples input on my project in the whole. I really need MySQL wizz to give me a hand (and maybe refer me to books to get me to the wizz level myself). First off, english is a second language to me and sometimes my sentences might be a little awkward. Please forgive me. Mon...

Quick question for you. I'm using a small form for users to input a range of dates for a report (similar to the date range forms used in MS templates) that has an ok and a cancel button. How can I set up the cancel button so that is does just that? As it is right now, the event for the cancel button is simply docmd.close but if I click this button, ms prompts me to enter parameter values for begindate and enddate. If i cancel out of these...

Hello, I'm building a solution using Visual Studio Windows Forms and I'm coding in C#. I have a windows form with databinded textboxes, comboboxes and a datagrid. Everything works fine until a user enter a wrong value in a textbox binded to a numeric field on the form. There is no way to get back to the old value by pressing escape (canceling changes). Strangely, this works fine with the datagridview columns: if there is an error in a...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
