I have a problem that I would like to get some advice on from other
Pythonistas. I currently manage a (soon to be) open source project for
displaying molecular graphics for a variety of different programs. To
do this I need to draw pictures of the molecules, typically using
OpenGL, and do some basic control, using some widget set.
The code currently uses GTK, and runs on Macintosh OS X under Fink,
and Linux. I would like to support the...

Dear Former Stackless Users,
I have to use this list to announce something really bad to you,
since all the Stackless lists are defunct:
The Stackless project is finally dead, now and forever.
If this doesn't affect you, please don't worry and just
ignore it. I don't take any responsibilities for any
harm brought to you, your family or your descendants

Someone in the Access forum explained that I could retrieve metadata from
Access with the DAO API. I specifically what to retrieve the comments for
each column and table. I also want to retrieve the control associated with
each column in MSAccess.
When I fired up VS.NET to start the project, I could not find the DAO to
import! Where is it? I assume it is a COM interface. I think there is a C
interface too for DAO -- what is that called?...

Dear friends,
First pls accept my apologies, because I am a new Postgres user, so my
questions could be silly.
We need to setup a database using UTF-8 encoding, however, by some way, we
have to express our need for right Greek character collation order.
I tried the default installation using pginstaller, then I created a db
(using pgAdminIII) using UTF-8, but still the collation is wrong (=wrong
upper() and "order by") for Greek...

VS2005 running smooth for several months. While working on project today, I
got some type of error message. Without closely studying, I clicked OK
expecting to restart successfully or repeat the message.
Now whenever I open VS2005 and load an existing project or create a new
project, I can no longer start debugging. The toolbar button is disabled and
F5 does not work. (There is no new error message at any point.) I have
rebooted....

My apologies to those of you who are more advanced Visual C++ .NET
programmers, but I am working on a project for an MBA course that is
condensed into an eight-week schedule, and I need help getting a
program up and running with proper files and documentation to be handed
in for a grade (on Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003).
I am being graded on how well I incorporate advanced C++ features such
as inheritance, polymorphic programming,...

Is Jython development dead or has it just seemed that way for over a
year?. The jython.org website has a recent new appearance (but no new
content) and there is some message traffic on the developer site at
Sourceforge. However nothing has been released for over a year (i.e.
no support for Python 2.3, 2.4 or 2.5). Is seems that IronPython may
have a better future than Jython.
I know this is a bit of a troll but I'm concerned about...

C used to allow the function as th elogical assembly.. And now ANSI
and others have develope a variant that thrives on criminal falsehood.
An if statement in a while loop must function. or you have changed the
if logic.
It is a major fallacy to claim the if as abstract in all usage. A
certain usage used ot be allowed so the fallacy did something neet.
Now the Visual 6.0 enforece predicate test the geniuses theory.

Is anyone aware of an easy method to search a solution for dead source
files? I'm not talking about files that show up as little white boxes
when you check the "Show All Files" button on the toolbar. Rather, I
want to delete all source files that aren't referenced by any project.

Does anyone have a pythonic way to check if a process is dead, given
the pid?
This is the function I'm using is quite OS dependent. A good candidate
might be "try: kill(pid)", since it throws an exception if the pid is
dead, but that sends a signal which might interfere with the process.
Thanks.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
