unix socket error in cygwin postgresql-7.4.3

[Probably duplicate: unable to get through cygwin or novice]

Hi!
During my last attempt to set postgresql working under cygwin on a win-98
OS I got the warning:
cygserver: failed to create UNIX domain socket: Address family not supported by
protocol
What should I check?
Ennio

Hello. I am trying to compile a linux socket server and a client in cygwin on windows. The g++ version is 3.3.1. The source was obtained from this location: http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue74/tougher.html ServerSoccket.cpp apparently compiles OK. Socket.cpp has a problem. Here's

Hi, I've a problem with some of my stored procs. My config is: RH7.1, Postgres 7.3.2 I had converted a few fields of a few tables from one type to another and after this I made all the necessary changes on the functions and recreated all my types and functions. It seemd to be all right, but the newly created functions won't work anymore.

Using the org.postgresql.Driver JDBC driver is it possible to connect to Postgres using a unix domain socket instead of a TCP socket (so you don't have to start the postmaster with -i)? Using a TCP socket instead of a unix socket seems to slow down requests that return large result sets by a factor of 3 on the same machine. What's the point of all the extra CPU overhead if you're on the same machine? A high-volume server can really do...

Hi, I'm running PostgreSQL 7.4 on Cygwin(Win XP Pro). Everything works perfectly, but I have to replace the current version with a 7.3 version for development and testing reasons. I've tried to do this via Cygwin setup, but there are no PostgreSQL 7.3 packages(only 7.4). Can anybody tell me where to find older PostgreSQL packages to install on Cygwin? Any help will be appreciated!!! Regards Jakub

Hi! I have a problem programming a simple client-server game, which is called pingpong ;-) The final program will first be started as a server (nr. 2) and then as a client. The client then sends the message "Ping" to the server, which reads it and answers with a "Pong". The game is really simple and the coding should be also very simple! But for me it isn't. By the way, the program uses datagram sockets (UDP). And, I'm using

Hi folks, I have a very strange problem when I try to port my client/server program to cygwin. It is a simple shell program where the server executes client's commands + it can send and receive files (something like ftp server/client). I implemented all the commands which the server executes from scratch meaning I don't use fork and exec. It was very educational but my problem is that when I try to "get <filename>" from server to the...

Here are three network-related exceptions. These were caught by "except" with no exception type, because none of the more specific exceptions matched. This is what a traceback produced: 1. File "D:\Python24\lib\socket.py", line 295, in read data = self._sock.recv(recv_size) timeout: timed out

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
